Childhood lies are a problem that sooner or later almost all parents have to deal with.

And here it is important to respond correctly. Because often parents prefer such a reaction as: shout, shame, say "lying is bad."

But this is what provokes children to cheat even more. In the program "Ranks with Ukraine" on the TV channel "Ukraine", the psychologist told how to understand why a child is lying, and how to build an honest relationship with him.

No matter how obedient children are, sooner or later they learn to cheat. Sometimes it's just for fun. But often, lying can be a signal of serious parenting problems. And the sooner you pay attention to them, the better.

“Review your punishments. Perhaps they are inadequate to the actions of children. Children lie to those they are afraid of, ”psychologist Natalya Podlesnaya said in the program“ Ranks with Ukraine ”.

And this is logical. Nobody wants to be punished. So you have to lie. It turns out to be a vicious circle. It is not worth punishing for lying - not even with a word. Better to talk calmly and in a friendly way and find out the reasons. Remember that where there is fear, there can be no trust.

Another reason for deception is an elementary lack of attention.

“Think, are you neglecting the child? Try to talk to him more and more often about him, about his best sides, ”the psychologist advises.

Start with your usual bedtime conversations. Let even 10 minutes, but devote this time only to your child, without being distracted by gadgets. It is important for a child to feel loved despite mistakes and bad behavior. This way he will feel safe and open up to you more.

“If a child lies a lot, it means that he is reading the family problems that you are trying to hide,” explains Natalya Podlesnaya.

Pay attention to your problems with your partner and at least try to solve them. And remember that children learn with us. Adults do not notice their petty lies, and sometimes they do not keep promises - set a good example.

So, there can be several reasons for children's lies. Children can cheat because they are afraid of punishment, because they lack attention, and also when they feel hidden problems in the family. So if your child is cheating, ask yourself if you are making these mistakes. And give an honest answer. After all, in order to bring up honesty in a child, one must be like that oneself.
