To wear or not to wear: US epidemiologists told how the mask protects against coronavirus

The US Centers for Disease Control has conducted research on how masking affects the rate at which the virus spreads.

It turned out that the mandatory mask wearing regime helps slow the spread of the coronavirus. When a person wears a mask, he protects not only those around him (if he is sick with an asymptomatic form COVID-19), but also himself.
The benefits increase as more people wear masks in public.

Doctors emphasize that fewer virus particles enter the body through the mask when communicating with an infected person, which increases a person's chances of recovery. The fewer viral particles got inside, the easier it is for the immune system to cope with them and prevent complications.

Note that the coronavirus has a wide range of symptoms, some lose their scent, others complain of high fever. Dry cough is considered one of the common symptoms.
