Itching, irritation, flaking, dry skin - and sometimes atopic dermatitis. How to fight?

Rules have become firmly established in our life to wash our hands with soap and water as often as possible, use an antiseptic and wear mask. But the skin is not happy about it.

How to avoid atopic dermatitis or its exacerbation if you have to dry the skin with soap and wipe with alcohol?

1. Eliminate antiseptics

If you have very sensitive skin, irritation, redness, itching, then you will have to do without alcohol-containing antiseptics. Given the current epidemiological situation, you will have to take extra care and wash your hands more often.

2. Choose a delicate soap

It doesn't matter for a virus - you wash your hands with antibacterial soap (a virus is not a bacteria) or, conventionally, baby shampoo. The point of hand washing is for the soap to destroy the fatty membrane of the virus and kill it.

This means you need the most gentle liquid soap, without an antibacterial effect. To check if it is suitable in the fight against coronavirus, wash greasy hands with this soap. If the fat is washed, then it is suitable.

3. Carry soap with you

If you have to wash your hands in public places, it can exacerbate dermatitis, because they often use the cheapest soap, which is bad for the skin. But not washing your hands is not an option at all.

This means that you have to carry a small bottle of soap with you that exactly suits your skin.

4. Be sure to use the cream (20-30 times a day)

You will have to apply the cream to your hands after each wash and between them, and do not forget to have a spare tube with you outside the house.

5. Don't rub your hands dry

It is enough to lightly blot them with a towel or shake them off and not wipe them at all, but immediately apply cream to wet hands.

6. Limit time with gloves

For hand skin problems, it is best not to wear latex gloves at all. If you have to do this, it is important to wear it no longer than 15-20 minutes.

7. Try to use less face mask

This is by no means a call to ignore the quarantine rules. A mask must be worn in public places.

But if you have dermatitis or a tendency to dermatitis, then it is in your best interest to avoid public places so that you do not have to wear a mask for more than 15 minutes in a row.

8. Do not use hormonal ointments, antibiotic ointments

Such drugs violate the microflora of the skin, thin it. Consult your doctor, what can be replaced from if you have to use for a long time. And in no case do not self-medicate and do not prescribe these drugs yourself.
