In Kiev, a training was held on serving people with autism spectrum disorder for dental clinics.
Association CHILD.UA within the framework of the autism awareness raising program in Ukraine Autism Friendly Space conducted training on working with people with autism spectrum disorders for eight regional dental clinics.
“In order to provide quality services to people with autism, special conditions are needed that take into account their characteristics and preferences. Unfortunately, Ukrainian business often simply does not know how to find an approach to such a client. That is why we, as part of the Autism Friendly Space program, teach our partners how to properly serve clients with autism. Today we held one of such trainings - 8 dentists from different cities of Ukraine took part in it, ”said Irina Volgina, General Director of the“ CHILD.UA ”Association.
The project was attended by the KIDS Clinic Medical Center (Dnipro), My Smile Dental Clinic (Irpin), Aquarelle Dentistry and Orthodontics Studio (Lviv), Estet Professional Dentistry Center (Kherson), Medical Center "OrtoRain" (Obukhov) and "Professorial Dentistry" (Poltava), as well as the Dental Office of the Zhytomyr Special School and the Nikolaev Dental polyclinic.
In the course of the Autism Friendly Space training, the specialists of these dentists underwent special training developed by the specialists of the Dubnova Clinic for Children in Kiev. The chief physician gave lectures on the peculiarities of working with dental problems in patients with ASD clinics Oleg Leonidovich Kovnatsky and the head of the anesthesiological service Nikolai Vasilievich Demjanjuk.
At the end of the training, all participants received additional sets of sensory toys for patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, plus a two month supportive consultation period from Autism Trainers Friendly Space.
In addition, the CHILD.UA Association will provide all clinics that have undergone training additional advertising on social media and the media to raise awareness of their ability to admit patients with autism.
“People with autism are a large segment of potential dental clients. In addition, these are clients for whom it is very important to understand that they will not be turned away and will be able to provide the required assistance in full. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA), autistic traits are found in 2% of the entire population of our planet. In addition, according to our own research, companies that start working with clients with autism receive much more positive reviews and were able to increase the loyalty of existing customers by at least 40% ", - emphasized Anna Davidenko, head of the Autism Friendly Space program from the Association "CHILD.UA".
Autism Friendly Space trainings help businesses develop a client base and reach a new level of service for people with autism - to become more visible in society, and for Ukraine as a whole - to achieve a high level of inclusion and involvement of people with special needs.
Also, all companies participating in the AFS program are automatically plotted on the interactive Autism map Friendly Space celebrating friendly clients with autism spectrum disorder institutions. The next training for hairdressers and beauty salons will take place on January 21, 2021.
Autism Friendly Space is a program to raise awareness of autism in Ukraine with financial support from the Zagoriy Foundation.

After all, such trainings are aimed at a systematic solution to the issue of inclusion of people with ASD, and not at providing one-time assistance. In the course of the training for the Autism Friendly Space program, dental faculty underwent a special education, broken by the faculty members of the Kiev “Dubnovo Clinics for Children”. Oleg Leonidovich Kovnatsky, the head doctor of the clinic, and Mykola Vasilovich Dem'yanuk, the head doctor of anesthesia service, read about the special features of robots and dental problems of patients with ASD.
By the end of the training, all the participants preliminarily rendered a set of sensory games for the children the autism spectrum, as well as a two-thousandth period of consultations from trainers Autism Friendly Space.
Krym, Association CHILD.UA will give all the clients who have passed the training of additional advertising in social media and 3MI with the help of thoroughly clear information about the possibility of accepting the autism of the patient.
“People with autism are a great segment of potential dentistry clients. Besides, the clients, who are even more important to reason, do not come back from them, and may need help in general communication. 2% of the entire population of our planet is responsible for the data given to the Center for the Control and Prevention of Illness (USA). In addition, it’s good to know our dignitaries, the company, who have come to see our clients with autism, to find more positive messages and we have increased the loyalty of the existing customers by 40%, ”- said Hanna Davidenko, the author of the Autism Friendly Space programs from the Association "CHILD. Trainings with the Autism Friendly Space programs will help the business to develop a customer base and go to a new service, people with autism is more visible in the suspension, and in Ukraine in general - to reach the high standard of inclusion and the experience of people with specialties development.
Likewise, the companies participating in the AFS programs automatically use the Autism Friendly Space interactive card, denoted by friendly mortgages to the clients from the RAS. The Autism Friendly Space program for the education of autism nutrition in Ukraine is carried out for the financial education of the Zagoriy Foundation.
