After the baby is born, one of the parents can take two weeks off.

Who can exercise the right?

• The mother of the child,
• Father of the child,
• The husband of the child's mother,
• The child's grandmother or grandfather (if the child has only a mom or dad).

Please note that a man who is not a relative of the child, but is busy raising him, can also take maternity leave.

A man can take maternity leave

If the mother and father decide that it is the father who should take maternity leave, then it is issued according to the standard conditions - until the child turns 3 years old, with the maintenance of benefits in accordance with legislation.

The child's father can get additional leave

In Ukraine, parents can now take additional paid leave from work for 10 days a year if one of the following conditions is met:

• a child with a disability,
• in a family of 2 or more children under 15 years old,
• the child is adopted.

A man can take additional leave for 10 days if:

• He brings up 2 or more children under the age of 15,

The document says that Ukraine seeks to get rid of the discriminatory approach, when only mothers can take parental leave. It is important that the mother can delegate these responsibilities if there is a vital need.
