For some people, coffee is an integral part of life. And, of course, I don't really want to give it up during pregnancy.

Coffee is considered a rather harmful drink, and therefore it is automatically considered that pregnant it is impossible. They are terrified of miscarriages and other problems, attributing this to coffee. But how really?

When and what coffee you can drink:

1. You can drink coffee if you are an avid coffee drinker and your body literally lives on coffee. Then, in case of refusal from this drink, the effect of refusal will be added to the usual pregnant sleepiness - and that's it, the loss of strength will be permanent. By slightly reducing the dose, you can continue to drink, you should not abruptly refuse if you continue an active lifestyle.

2. If you rarely drink coffee and, in principle, do not depend on this drink, then a cup of coffee from time to time will not cause significant damage if you feel good and do not drink coffee at night.

3. It is safest to drink coffee in the second trimester, because the first and third are considered dangerous in terms of termination of pregnancy or premature birth.

4. Decaffeinated coffee is not an option. This is not entirely natural coffee, it is specially processed, and such products are really best avoided.

5. Drink coffee with milk. So you reduce the load on the stomach and do not risk earning an exacerbation of gastritis or other gastrointestinal diseases. But if you have constipation, then you should drink pure coffee, it promotes peristalsis.

6. Do not add sugar or cream to coffee. So you make a dessert out of the drink, which also provokes a feeling of hunger. And during pregnancy, the appetite already increases, so these drinks will give you extra and empty calories.

7. Drink only 1 cup of coffee at a time. This is better than nothing, if you really want to. This way you minimize all risks, but satisfy your inner need. If you still drink coffee not every day, and at the same time consume a lot of water (adding 1 glass of water a day when you drank coffee), then during the normal course of pregnancy there is nothing to worry about.

8. Don't worry about drinking a cup of coffee. Your stress and anxiety will bring more problems than coffee itself. If you doubt whether to drink or not drink, ask your doctor at the antenatal clinic. If it is adequate and modern, then it will probably just calm you down and remind you of moderation. You are not sick, you are pregnant.
