Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be caused by both natural causes and pathological conditions.
There are several reasons for this condition. First, of course, external factors: the room is too hot and dry, clothes or blankets are too warm, the child cried in his sleep.
The air temperature in the room, even with a newborn, should not exceed 22 ° C. For children over 1 year old, it can be gradually reduced to 18-19 ° C. The child himself should be dressed accordingly, not too lightly, so as not to freeze. If a child sleeps covered at night and does not open up, this must also be taken into account and not put on too tight pajamas.
What else can cause increased sweating during sleep?
Lack of vitamin D
Hyperhidrosis may be the first sign of rickets - then the head, armpits, palms and feet sweat most of all. Sweat in this state is sticky and has a sour smell. Most often this happens in children under 2 years old - therefore, they need to add 2 drops of vitamin D to their food once a day all year round.
It is especially worth paying attention to other accompanying symptoms: photophobia, fear of sounds, constipation, flattening of the occiput, curvature of the legs.Heart and vascular problems
This can happen to a child of any age - including newborns can be diagnosed with heart defects or abnormalities.
Associated symptoms: cyanosis of the skin around the lips and nose, rapid breathing, lethargy and weakness, poor weight gain.
Infections
Excessive sweating can be the first sign of a disease - viral or bacterial. This is usually followed by a rise in temperature. Diseases can be very different: from otitis media and bronchitis to pneumonia and intestinal infections.
Sweating can also indicate the presence of parasites in the body.Hormonal problems
This is observed in adolescents when their hormones are rearranged during puberty. This condition most often goes away on its own.
Also, excessive sweating can indicate genetic diseases - but these are very rare cases. With them, the child's sweat has a very pungent odor, becomes excessively salty - up to the release of salt on the skin. Serious conditions occur in about 2% of children who sweat.
