A salty taste in the mouth can be a cause for concern for the expectant mother.

According to doctors, there are three most common causes such discomfort.

Poor oral hygiene or infection

It is no secret that during pregnancy there are more things to do, but the main thing for a woman should be taking care of herself.

If it is not enough to often treat the oral cavity with cleaning agents, then tartar, fistulas or chronic tonsillitis may develop. Doctors believe that improper hygiene itself may be the cause, if plaque remains after brushing.

Gastrointestinal problems and dehydration

Gastroesophageal reflux disease sometimes worsens while carrying a baby.

It also manifests itself in a salty taste in the mouth (sometimes sour).

Dehydration is a dangerous condition. It can occur after previous illnesses. Fluid imbalance provokes the appearance of a large amount of sodium chloride in saliva, it is felt like salt.

Hormonal disbalance

The most dangerous cause for a pregnant woman is diabetes mellitus. It can manifest itself as a dry mouth and, at times, an acetone aftertaste.
