In general, mushrooms are not only tasty, but also healthy. There is a lot of protein, vitamins of group B and C, folic acid, iron and other useful substances. However, children under a certain age should not be given them at all. Why? Understanding.

Mushrooms contain chitin - from the same substance, for example, the shells of some animals consist. Therefore, it is difficult to digest such a product - especially for the children's digestive system.

In addition, mushrooms easily absorb harmful substances from the soil and air, especially if they grow in a "wild" environment, but not far from highways or industrial enterprises.

It is definitely not worth giving a small child fried or pickled mushrooms, loading his unformed digestive tract additionally. At first it can be mushroom broth, sauce with their use, then stewed mushrooms.

At what age can you give a child mushrooms

2. From 2-3 years old, cooked mushrooms can be given very rarely and in a minimum amount. But it's better to wait even longer.

3. Basically, pediatricians approve of the use of mushrooms by a child from the age of 7. And again, these should be small portions of cultivated mushrooms - the same champignons or oyster mushrooms.

4. Children who have health problems should not eat mushrooms until 10-12 years old. Especially if they concern the digestive system. For them, such a product can be dangerous; its use must be agreed with a doctor.
