Tomato is a vegetable rich in useful vitamins and microelements. Yet for children up to a certain age, it can become a powerful allergen.

Many doctors recommend introducing tomatoes into diet food for children no earlier than two years old. A newborn may develop a vegetable allergy. Also, do not forget that tomatoes are simply very difficult for a child's stomach. However, if in the season of fresh vegetables, you want to give your baby a tomato, use the following rules.

Up to a year old

Babies under one year old can only be given tomato juice. However, keep in mind: this only applies to babies over 8 months old. Pay attention to the groceries in the store. Some brands make specially tomato juice for baby food.

After a year

After a year, a child can taste the peel from a tomato. If you see that the allergy has not happened, you can systematically move on to introducing a full-fledged tomato into the child's diet. However, remember that it is best to remove the peel from the tomato as it can contain many of the chemicals that are used to grow the vegetable.

How much tomato should you give

Try not to exceed the norm of 200 grams for children under 3 years old. Children from 3 to 6 years old need to eat no more than 500 grams per day.

Be vigilant

Be mindful of seasonal vegetables. Remember: too massive tomatoes can be stuffed with various nitrates. Those, in turn, carry a very high danger to the child's body. That is why they may not be completely suitable for baby food.
