Why does an antibody test not guarantee that a person has not had the coronavirus?

People who got infected and got sick coronavirus without symptoms, there can be much more, the so-called silent immunity from the disease is to blame, The Daily Mail reports, citing scientists.

It turned out that the analysis for specific antibodies in the blood is not the only possible way to understand whether a person has had a coronavirus.

Even if no antibodies were found in a person's blood, it must also be checked for T cells in the blood memory.

Today's data suggests that we may grossly underestimate the number of cases. For example, 6 out of 8 people living under the same roof with a person infected with the coronavirus were found to have T cells that fought the virus. However, none of them had specific antibodies.
Note that T cells are the body's main weapon against viruses, they are secreted from white blood cells in the bone marrow and are the first to rush to help the immune system.
