On average, every Ukrainian uses 5 tubes of toothpaste per year. According to the Internet, there is a lot of harmful stuff in it. For example, sodium lauryl sulfate, which, by the way, is added to automobile oil. But manufacturers promise only the best - the disappearance of caries and the strengthening of teeth.

Pastes for sensitive teeth and gums, whitening and those that strengthen the enamel. How to choose from this variety? First, you need to consult with your doctor about the condition of your teeth. And secondly, to realize that pastes do not heal.

“Whitening pastes, in principle, help maintain the result of professional whitening, but they also need to be used correctly. No more than 10 days a month, ”said dentist Roman Neskhodovskiy in the program“ Ranok z Ukraine ”.

All pastes have an abrasive in their composition - this is a kind of micro-scrub that removes plaque from the teeth. It is tough in whitening pastes, so frequent use can damage the enamel. The types of abrasive are indicated by marks of different colors on the tails of the tubes. Whiteners - black. Next are the blue ones, also not for daily use. The red mark has a softer and more organic composition. And green is the most gentle structure. Therefore, it is better to choose exactly green.

During his life, a person eats about 5 kilograms of pasta, and a child each time up to 40%. Therefore, doctors recommend buying "baby paste" for babies. Its composition is safer.

"Any paste is an abrasive substance, surface-active substances are those that wash, aromatic and medicinal additives - fluorides", - explains chemist Vadym Eremenko on the air of the channel "Ukraine".

Fluorine is present in 80% of pastes. It strengthens the enamel and prevents tooth decay. Therefore, a very long time ago, they began to add it to tap water, milk and salt. But if there is a lot of fluoride in the body, the enamel will become like a diamond. Strong but fragile.

In addition, the chemist drew a parallel between the paste for 26 and 80 hryvnia. The pastes are the same in action, but different in price. And surprisingly, there was only one difference in the composition. In the scrub itself - an abrasive.

“In one, the main abrasive is calcium carbonate, and in the other, sodium carbonate. In fact, it is chalk and soda, - comments Vadim Eremenko. - In action, the difference between them is not so big. Obviously not three times! "
