What is herd immunity and why will it save us from coronavirus?

Famous Ukrainian pediatrician Evgeny Komarovsky explained when humanity may have general protection against the 2019 coronavirus.

We're talking about immunity in the entire population. When 95% of representatives of a certain species develop immunity to a specific pathogen, we can talk about collective protection.

It is important not only the presence of immunity, but also the consequences of this development of events: the circulation of the virus stops.

According to Komarovsky, if 95% of the population has protective mechanisms to fight the coronavirus (they cannot get sick and spread the infection), then the remaining 5% are completely protected.

Sooner or later, herd immunity will develop and the virus will stop transmitting.
