How to improve the microclimate at home and make it child-friendly.
1. Grow house plants
Plants make the home more comfortable and attractive and also good purify the air.
For example, they help get rid of ammonia, which is contained in household chemicals, and formaldehyde, which some furniture releases into the air.
Chlorophytum, philodendron and ficus are considered excellent air purifiers. Just do not forget to wipe their leaves from dust.
2. Minimize additional flavors
All sprays, aromatic oils for the home are extra chemicals that neither you nor your children should breathe.
If there is an unpleasant smell in the house, then you need to get rid of the source, and not drown it out with a fragrance. You can also dissolve a spoonful of baking soda in a glass of water and spray on it to remove the unpleasant odor.
Pay attention to beauty care products. If it does not contain fragrances and fragrances, it will be less harmful to the skin, especially when it comes to a child.
3. Do not use insect repellent
Insect repellent is very toxic, and in the case of children, it can lead to tragedy if the child decides to put cockroach chalk in his mouth.
If you use insect repellent spray, its particles settle on fabrics and other surfaces, which easily absorb and then release toxic fumes. To fight insects, you can use a less harmful agent: mix alcohol, water and liquid soap and spray in the right places.
4. Choose natural household chemicals
Read the labels of the cleaning products carefully. They must be hypoallergenic, degradable, non-flammable, free of phosphates, chlorine, alkaline solvents, ammonia, nitrates and borates.
Try to use chemistry only in cases of extremely difficult contamination. A bathtub, washbasins, a toilet bowl can be cleaned from dirt and plaque with ordinary liquid soap. Faucets are also easy to clean with liquid soap or toothpaste.
Stains on mirrors and glossy surfaces can often be removed with water and a soft cloth. Even for the oven, a strong cleaning agent may be needed except for the oven. The hob can be cleaned with dish soap.
5. Replace plastic with other materials
Of course, it is convenient to use plastic baby dishes, bottles and bowls for food. But particles of microplastics get into the body at the same time, even if your dishes are designed to store food and use in the microwave.
Try as much as possible to replace plastic dishes with glass, ceramic, bamboo, especially the one with which children and their food come into contact.
6. Use purified water from clean containers
Few parents would think of cooking baby food with tap water or letting the child drink it. But there are nuances here too.
The water should not only be purified by itself, but also stored in clean containers. If you fill your bottles with water from the machine, do not forget to change them regularly, since it is impossible to thoroughly wash the plaque out of them at home.It is better to keep transparent containers with water out of sunlight so that the water does not "bloom".
7. Check the level of radon in the air
Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas with severe health consequences, including cancer.
You don't have to live in a uranium mine to get radon into your home. It can penetrate through building materials, tap water.
You can find out the concentration of radon in an apartment using a special device - a radiometer.
8. Give up carpet
It is almost impossible to keep the carpet perfectly clean. Even if there is no visible contamination, toxic substances and harmful bacteria accumulate in it.
The fewer carpets and carpets in the house, and other dust collectors, the cleaner the air and healthier the inhabitants.
9. Dust regularly
Of course, you don't need to do general cleaning twice a week. But if you are waiting for the kettle to boil or the food warms up in the microwave, then in these 2-3 minutes you can easily wipe the dust in one room.
Furniture and household appliances emit a number of harmful substances that are deposited with dust. The less dust, the lower the risk of inhaling toxins along with it.10. Give preference to quality furniture
Ideally, when the furniture in the house is not made of chipboard and MDF, from which formaldehyde is released, but from real wood. It is expensive, but such furniture will not harm your health and will last much longer.
If you have chipboard furniture at home, try to dust it off and ventilate the room as often as possible.
