With the active spread of the COVID-19 virus, WHO urges everyone not only to stay at home, but also not to forget about disinfecting hands and improvised tools that we use every day.

Today, finding a sanitizer or buying a hand sanitizer at an affordable price is almost impossible. Therefore, doctors recommend making them yourself on the basis of ordinary alcohol at home. What ingredients should you mix so that the antiviral effect is there, and your hands don't dry out, and you can wipe everything with them: from phones to kitchen surfaces? This was told in the program "Vikna-novini" on STB.

How to make a sanitizer at home?

Microbiologist Oksana Volskaya told how to prepare a high-quality antiseptic solution.

To do this, you will need:

  • Ethanol
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Glycerin (polyhydric alcohol)
  • Essential oil (for variety)

Sanitizer preparation method:

  1. 100 ml of alcohol is against viruses! Add 5 ml of hydrogen peroxide to them - against the fungus.
  2. We also add 2 ml of glycerin to the skin softening mixture.
  3. Finally, drip 5 drops of essential oil for aroma and anti-bacteria.

Homemade antiseptic is ready. If you want the solution to be gelatinous, add a little gelatin. A homemade sanitizer can be used to process: a telephone, glasses, doorknobs and everything with which we come in contact most often.

The main thing is to use it uneconomically: carefully treat the hands to the forearm for at least 30 seconds. After all, the longer alcohol is on the surface, the longer it works. That is why it is better to dilute pure alcohol with additional substances so as not to let it evaporate quickly.

“The coronavirus is sensitive to alcoholic substances, but to those that contain at least 60%,” added family doctor Natalya Artemenko.

To take the antiseptic with you, you can pour it into a spray bottle from a nasal spray. And in order to use the solution at home, it can be poured into a bottle of window cleaner.

Remember that it is important to follow the basic rules and recommendations of the WHO.
