The panic around the ill-fated coronavirus is only intensifying.

It's time to find out how it differs from the usual ARVI and how not to scare yourself ahead of time.

Coronavirus symptoms:

  • fever;
  • dry cough;
  • dyspnea;
  • fatigue.

SARS symptoms:

  • runny nose;
  • cough;
  • headache;
  • temperature rise to 37.5–38 degrees.

How can you get infected with coronavirus:

If ARVI is about the throat and nose, then the focus of the coronavirus is the lower respiratory tract. The patient does not catch a cold, but lets in an infection. If the influenza virus is dangerous enough (one in two can catch it), then most people have immunity to coronavirus. By the way, our body is much more prepared for the coronavirus than for the flu.

The main difference

The incubation period for coronavirus lasts from 2 to 14 days, while for influenza it lasts 1-2 days. That is, if you suspect that you have been in contact with an infected person, but 14 days have not passed, then the probability is possible.
