How to have your child adopt your values and learn important life lessons.

The biggest contribution to child development it is not the school that brings in, but the family. This is where the child learns what is important and what is not, what is acceptable and what is prohibited.

How to raise a child not spoiled and keep the same golden mean in education?

Teach your child to appreciate life and what he has

We will not tire of repeating that the example of both parents plays a key role here.

If mom and / or dad constantly complain, they are unhappy with everything, they criticize everyone, devalue other people's achievements, envy, gossip, slander, do not appreciate what they have - then the child will quickly learn it and will behave in the same way.

You need to distinguish between the inability to appreciate what you have, and the desire for something more.

Ambition is great, and you need to moderately encourage them in a child. At the same time, it is important to remember what has the greatest value - life and health, above which no child or parental ambitions, no grades and no one's opinion should be.

Talk to your child about the role of money in a person's life

Money is an opportunity and a tool, but not an end in itself. It is important to remember and explain this to the child.

The basics of financial literacy should be instilled from the age of 4-5. At this time, it is possible to explain to the child how money is spent in the family: what there are obligatory expenses, and there are secondary ones.

When the child grows up, it is necessary to explain to him how and most importantly why you need to save money, plan your income and expenses.

The child must have his own pocket money. And at first he, despite any of your explanations, will spend them on sweets and entertainment.

But gradually, if you continue to explain the basics of financial literacy, the child will learn to save and not spend now for a big goal in the future. Again, it is important to show him an appropriate example.

Also, you shouldn't buy anything your child wants on demand. In this case, he will definitely not learn to value money and will not understand that their supply in the family is limited.

Don't buy expensive branded clothes for your baby

Even if finances allow you to buy very expensive things for a child who will grow out of them in six months, do not do so. Use that money for something more important. For example, for charity.

First, a brand is not a sign of the highest quality. Children just need good, neat, attractive clothes.

Secondly, if you buy expensive things and worry about their safety and cleanliness, then why is all this? The child will stain them, tear them, lose them - all ordinary children do this.

Thirdly, the child must understand that happiness does not depend on the name on the tag and on the price tag. This does not mean that you need to dress him in worn-out other people's clothes, but you can always find a cheaper alternative.

Fourthly, closer to adolescence, the child will want exactly such things and those firms that are fashionable to wear in his environment. Here you will have to make concessions and buy at least part of what he asks for.

However, he may well buy the rest if he wisely saves his pocket money.

You need to teach a child to appreciate the things that he has, not to chase after fashion and other people's approval. Things should serve a person, and not vice versa.

Instill in the child hard work

Explain to your child that success is always hard work. Encourage him to read books with biographies of famous people to understand, for example, that Mark Zuckerberg worked hard to be a billionaire, and not just "screwed up a startup" and dropped out of school. In the end, he returned to school and received a diploma.

So many other famous personalities not only woke up rich and famous, but long and persistently walked towards this, studied and developed.

During adolescence, encourage your child to earn extra money, help him find a safe place where he will not be deceived, and encourage additional education.

Work with your child

It is not necessary to do all the lessons with your child or hire tutors for all subjects.

But you can well expand his knowledge in any subject if you additionally study at home, for example, in a playful way.

You can conduct chemical and physical experiments, grow plants, paint, sculpt, design, program, read books and watch documentaries together, go to exhibitions, etc.

It will help you strengthen an emotional connection with your child and at the same time teach him something more than a school curriculum, show that learning is fun and interesting.
