Pregnancy all over the world is accompanied by beliefs, omens and superstitions.
Interestingly, there are similar superstitions in other countries. And some of them are very strange.
1. Mexico: You can't eat eggs. In this country, it is believed that such a product as rich in protein and healthy fats as eggs should not be eaten by pregnant women. Otherwise, the child will smell bad.
2. Turkey: you can't go to the zoo. According to local superstition, if a pregnant woman looks at wild animals - for example, a monkey or a camel - the child will be born ugly.3. Japan: you need to eat raw fish. Our compatriots know very well that sushi is not for pregnant women. Although the prospect of poisoning or getting worms scares away not everyone. But in Japan, women in the opposite position are advised to eat more raw fish. But, of course, there you can be a little more confident in its quality and freshness.
4. South Africa: you need to drink a decoction of daisies. Although it sounds beautiful, the taste of this broth is rather unpleasant. However, in South Africa, it is believed that for the expectant mother, this is a must-drink. If you believe traditional medicine, the idea makes sense: a decoction of daisy improves digestion, normalizes the liver and kidneys, and increases immunity.
Each of these properties is very useful for a pregnant woman's body.
6. Czech Republic: you need to drink beer. In late stages, pregnant women in the Czech Republic are advised to drink a little dark beer every day. This is believed to promote lactation.
Immediately, we note that there is no harmless and completely safe dose of alcohol for any person, and even more so for pregnant women.
7. Vietnam: Do not use toothpaste. The risk of swallowing toothpaste is very frightening for some people in this country. The paste is considered toxic for pregnant women, and baking soda is recommended for brushing your teeth.
8. China: you can't eat ice cream. It is believed that if the expectant mother eats cold food, then this adversely affects the baby inside her, up to the possibility of miscarriage. Allegedly, the cold takes away the strength of the child.9. Africa: Do not touch your belly. In some African countries, the rule is very strictly observed so that no one touches the pregnant belly. It is believed that only the closest relatives can do this. Otherwise, the child runs the risk of being kidnapped by evil spirits.
