ENT doctors are sure: chronic tonsillitis is the scourge of our time. And one of the types of the disease is purulent "plugs" in the throat, which look like light clusters on the tonsils. These are "accumulations" - accumulations of harmful bacteria and leukocytes that have died in the fight against them.
How do purulent plugs form on seemingly smooth glands? It's very simple: the palatine tonsils only seem to be smooth, in fact, they are literally pierced with narrow crypt canals, ending on the surface of the tonsils with lacunae. It is in the crypts and gaps that these most purulent accumulations are formed.
Healthy glands are able to cleanse themselves. Therefore, people who do not suffer from tonsillitis do not have any traffic jams. But the inflamed tonsils cannot cope with the task of self-cleaning, therefore caseous detritus accumulates in them, forming the very purulent plugs, from which it is so difficult (but possible) to get rid of.
Diagnostics
Corks do not require special diagnostics - they can be easily noticed even by a non-specialist in an ordinary mirror, if you open your mouth wider. However, other symptoms also speak of their presence:
- sore throat;
- discomfort when swallowing;
- the palatine arch, which is thicker than usual;
- loose surface of the tonsils;
- low-grade fever in a patient;
- the feeling of an object stuck in the throat (if the plugs are especially large).
How to get rid of tonsillitis plugs?
Removing purulent plugs is one of the main components of complex therapy for this form of chronic tonsillitis. Such therapy includes medical treatment, physiotherapy, as well as washing the tonsils.
In no case should you remove the plugs yourself. And then some are sure that it is worth "just pick up a little and"... And cotton swabs, toothpicks and even forks are used. And as a result - injured glands, which were already inflamed. Plus infection with a "bonus" (something does not occur to anyone to pre-sterilize the same fork).
Qualified disposal methods
In fact, there are only two effective methods for removing tonsillitis plugs:
- rinsing with a needleless syringe;
- and vacuum washing (on the "Tonsillor" apparatus).
The vacuum method works "like a vacuum cleaner" - the nozzle is brought to the amygdala itself with a plug, and as a result, all the pathogenic content of lacunae and crypts is drawn into a special container.
Of course, it is difficult to remove all the pus in one wash, so the procedure is prescribed as a course to clear everything for sure.
