Yesterday I met my childhood friend Vika. She and her husband recently moved to our city, and before that they lived a little further. I would never have thought what was going on in her family, or rather did not know that her relationship with her mother-in-law was simply awful. Now I'll tell you what I mean. A friend asked for advice, while I was thinking how to help her, she decided to ask for advice from you too!
Vicki just had a huge scandal with her husband's mother. The mother-in-law takes offense at them, and expects an apology, but Vika, like her husband Alexey, is not going to give in. And so they have been going on for the third year, no calls, no meetings - nothing.
Here's what happened. Somewhere about three years ago, Vika and Alexei lived in a neighboring town, because she studied there at the institute and worked part-time, and her husband worked at this very institute. They had to rent an apartment, because the guys understood that they wouldn’t be able to buy a home yet. So, they lived in peace, but the tenant suddenly decided to sell the apartment, and asked a couple to move out. So Alexei's mother found out about this, and offered her to rent an apartment from her. At that time, Alexey and Vika communicated normally with their mother-in-law, but due to constant employment they rarely saw her, that is the reason, they did not know what kind of person she really was.
The guys did not think long, and decided to agree to the proposal of their mother-in-law. After a week of daily calls, the mother-in-law, apparently, was bored of her living space, and began to come to the apartment every day. She took her grandson with her while Katya was at work, came with him, gave him the children’s things to play with, and she herself drank tea with sandwiches in the kitchen. I climbed the refrigerator and cabinets, found something tasty, and unceremoniously ate it, as if it was lying for her. No, Vika is not sorry, just the very fact that the mother-in-law opened the door with her key and could come at any time convenient for her and inconvenient for the children, not only embarrassing, but starting to enrage!
Moreover, the mother-in-law could come when no one was at home, sit and wait for the children, and then she began to read her moral teachings to them.
- Vic, why are you washing the bath so badly? Why are there crumbs on the floor? By the way, it's time to re-glue the wallpaper in the kitchen, the old ones, and wash the windows off the street, so dirty!
Alexey was not silent. He reminded his dear mother that the rent was paid, they were renting an apartment, but they were not going to ennoble it at their own expense. As for cleaning, this is also their own business, and that it's time to stop breaking into their lives and control everything. The mother-in-law was silent, and for a couple of days she did not even come in - apparently, she was offended.
Over the weekend, Vika and Alexei decided to arrange a romantic dinner for themselves. Ordered sushi, bought wine, downloaded a movie. We sat for a while and went to sleep. And at 8 o'clock in the morning, the mother-in-law came with her grandson, and began to scream like a victim. She started running around the apartments of her neighbors and asking if there was any noise in her apartment, if they were disturbing people to sleep.
Vika hated it while her husband's mother was collecting gossip around the entrance, she took out a suitcase and began to collect her things:
- I won't stay here anymore, this is some kind of insanity. Lesh, look for another apartment. Let your mother either live here herself, or give the keys and never come back!
The mother-in-law returned:
- Well, well done, did not make noise! Nobody even complained about you! But you don't need to drink more in my apartment, and at night you also see yourself quieter. You don't need children now, you can sleep separately, otherwise they will think that there is some kind of brothel.
Vika said to this that she and her husband were leaving, and did not intend to live like this anymore. And the mother-in-law was very angry:
- Well, move out, only I won't return the money to you, I still have to generalize here, or maybe hire a cleaning service, otherwise every corner has been dirtied here, you won't look without tears!
Vika was silent and collected her things. The mother-in-law began to walk around the house and look at furniture, appliances, and at this time her one-year-old grandson went to the TV and began to light up the antenna. Seeing this, the mother-in-law began yelling that Vika was supposed to look after the child, for some reason called her daughter-in-law a good-for-nothing mother, and generally poured mud on Vika from head to toe. At this point, Alexei stood up, all this time he endured his mother's antics, and tried not to get into the conversation. He did not begin to be rude to his mother, but demanded the keys from her:
- So, so, Mom, we will definitely move out, but we need time to find an apartment for ourselves. We have everything paid for a month in advance, so that your leg should not be here. And anyway, I demand that you apologize to my wife, you offended her!
- What are you, son? Are you out of your mind at all? What do you say? - with these words, the mother-in-law took her grandson in her arms and hurried to leave the apartment.
Vika began to collect her things further, cleaned the apartment, and Alexey went to look for suitable housing in order to move out of her mother-in-law's apartment. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything that quickly. Either the area is good, but the rent is high, then, on the contrary, it’s a penny payment, but the apartment is in a terrible state.
In the evening he returned, and after half an hour the whole family arrived: mother-in-law, father-in-law, Katya, grandson and son-in-law.
- In 10 minutes the police will come here! I will ask you to vacate the premises, otherwise I am not responsible for the consequences, - said the mother-in-law menacingly.
Vika and Alexei quickly packed their things and left to visit their friends, and the numbers of all relatives by their husbands were blacklisted. A little later, the guys rented an apartment, and a year later they decided on a mortgage in our city. Alyoshka was then transferred to our area, and Vika finished her studies, everything was going as well as possible.
Now rumors reach Vicki that her mother-in-law expects an apology from them, says that if they apologize, then she will forgive everything and will not get angry. But the guys turn a deaf ear to everything. And recently they saw their "mother" in a shopping center, she went up to her son and told him that he had traded his mother for a podzabornaya girl. And Alexei sent her to hell.
In general, the guys are not going to apologize, because they really didn’t do anything wrong, and it’s the mother-in-law who needs to apologize, not them. But Vika was pressured by mutual acquaintances, and even the neighbors of her mother-in-law called. They say that she is sick, sad walks. So a friend came to me for advice, but I don’t know what to say. It seems that the mother-in-law is wrong in this situation, but she is, as it were, Alexei's mother.
