This photo was taken in the 60s, in one of the Soviet kindergartens. Children lie on cots and sunbathe.
We rejoiced in the summer, the sun. We were even forced to sunbathe in kindergarten and primary school. And now we spoil the reputation of the sun, make a monster out of it. Say, increases the risk of developing melanoma and accelerates aging. We look at porcelain Korean women and try to "fit" our skin to their milky whiteness. And as a result, the shelves of our bathtubs become heavier by a couple of kilograms of unnecessary cosmetics.
It's time for the sun to return a positive reputation. You don't need to be afraid of him, you need to be friends with him and be able to handle. For this we now have absolutely everything we need.
Frightened by melanoma? The very mechanism of its formation is far from being studied. The sun here is just one factor that increases the risk of melanoma formation. There are other reasons: weakened immunity, poor ecology, genetic predisposition, etc.
In order not to wind yourself up with anything terrible in your head, just pay attention to the skin: appeared a strange mole that stands out from the rest in an uneven color or outline - sign up to dermatologist. As a vampire, you cannot avoid the sun's rays all your life, and even that is harmful. But you can definitely take control of your health by periodically checking with a dermatologist. It's much easier than not being in contact with the sun.
I personally was also at one time wary of the sun's rays. Because I've read scary things about skin cancer. But when we talked with the doctor about sunburn and melanoma, he looked at me as if I were a naive girl, and said that I shouldn't worry so much: sunbathe calmly, just do not stay under the scorching sun for a long time, do not fry every other day in a solarium for 15 minutes, everything is too much on the Internet exaggerate. But seriously: you google why the sluggish state during the day and cough in the evening, you read a lot of game and at least leave a will.
Are pigmentation and premature wrinkles scared? Just take care of your skin. Now it is not a problem to buy SPF cream, they are sold in almost all supermarkets.
Remember the following with sunscreens (included the recommendations of my colleague, whom I often consult, and perhaps the most competent cosmetologist in the world - Tiina Orasmäe-Meder):
1)Urban versus beach tanning - two big differences. For a beach tan, sunscreen with physical filters (for example, with titanium dioxide in the composition): Inexpensive, it reflects the sun's rays and does not absorb into the skin, but you will walk whitish.
For urban tanning - chemical filters (they do not reflect, but absorb the sun's rays): they are enough for 2 hours under the sun, but can be combined with care and decorative cosmetics, in general - with such a filter you can go to the beautiful city. Modern creams combine both types of filters.
2)No need to regret the cream on the beach. Going on vacation and saw a good deal of sunscreen - take a few bottles. For full face protection from ultraviolet radiation, 5-7 ml of sunscreen is required. Now imagine how much is required for the whole body. A 50 ml bottle is enough for one trip to the beach.
3) Physical filters are not absorbed into the skin. The same titanium dioxide is washed off immediately from the skin in chlorinated water, in sea water - not immediately, but it will only last for 2-4 dives. If you shake off the adhering sand, you will "shake off" the SPF filters. That is why many are surprised: how is it that I smeared myself with sunscreen, but still burned out on the beach. I have already said about chemical filters - update every 2 hours.
4) SPF 15, 30, 40, 50 - protection level. Higher numbers mean more protection. To be more precise, according to the following formula:
Skin protection percentage = 100% - (1 / SPF) * 100%.
Replace SPF with the number in the formula and see how many percent of all sun rays of type B (from which we burn, blush and hurt us) will not disturb your skin. For example, for SPF 50, the percentage of skin protection = 100% - (1/50) * 100% = 100-2 = 98%.
5) Reaching 100% protection is impossible, in the USA it is generally forbidden to indicate SPF more than 50. There is such a serious composition that such a cream is prescribed for medical reasons. For example, those who have a severe allergic reaction to ultraviolet light, or after peeling, laser and other cosmetic procedures, after which the skin becomes very sensitive to sunlight rays. If you see an inexpensive SPF 50+ in a store, that's marketing.
6)If the level of protection in the product is indicated only in SPF - do not worry about your tan, it will be. Type B rays are a story of flaking, redness and wrinkles. But the rays of type A penetrate into the deep layers of the skin, they are responsible for sunburn. And for skin cancer too.
Marking of the degree of protection of the cream against ultraviolet rays of type A: in European means - PDD (must be at least 10), in Asian - PA (next to these letters must be at least "3 pluses"), in British - stars (at least two stars).
7) UV-A sunscreens prevent sunburn. With these products, you will get a tan much longer than with regular SPF. But protection against the development of melanoma is provided. But do not forget: any sunscreen will not completely protect against cancer.
That's all. The above will be able to digest in less than a day, even for those who find it difficult to read all this and immediately runs into the comments.
And the sun is perhaps the best cosmetologist, nutritionist and psychologist in one bottle. This is because it promotes the production of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is depression, obesity, frequent illnesses, wrinkles are not age-related, but because the "sour face" is always eternal, as well as normal sleep.
I agree that the inhabitants of the middle lane are not so lucky with the sun as the southern regions. Vitamin deficiency is replenished by other methods (my detailed article on vitamin D3 - here). But when the sun appears on the street, you need to rejoice in it and run into the street, and not be more afraid of radiation, stay at home or go out in a burqa, gloves and almost in a foil spacesuit.
