The first two parts of the legendary fragrances were very popular with my readers, and I received a great response.
In some, they inspired the memories of a bright and carefree youth. Other readers shared their stories from childhood, what kind of perfume their mother or grandmother had, they approached the coveted cabinet with bottles and quietly admired them.
Many readers wanted to expand the list of legendary fragrances and suggested adding to me those options that must be present in the collection. In theory, today's article is a continuation of the theme of legendary fragrances, the third part. But no, I decided to change the concept and make a more honest selection, where fragrances are selected by readers, real people, and not by opinions. experts or glossy magazines, which often impose the "legendary" of a certain perfume (such a hidden marketing move).
Turbulences by French fashion house Revillon (1981)
The French fashion house, which dates back to 1723, was originally engaged in fur products. But when at the beginning of the twentieth century the popularity of furs began to wane, and the owner of the fashion house at that time decided to expand the range - in the 20s (and according to some sources - in the 30s) the first Revillon perfume was born.
And no, it was not our hero Turbulences, it appeared later, in 1981, and became popular almost instantly.
A luxurious bouquet of freshly cut flowers in aldehyde packaging - this is how you can briefly and succinctly describe the fragrance. It captivated with its luxurious sillage, but now, to the great regret of many, it is difficult to find this fragrance. And if you find, then the price for it (however, as well as for the entire removed perfume) skyrocketed on some sites. They removed the fragrance in 1998, re-released it several times and slightly changed the formula.
In 2003, Revillon launched Turbulences Eau de Toilette. Apart from the name, the perfume had little in common. But eau de toilette also found its lovers. History repeats itself, now again this fragrance is difficult to find, it is almost nowhere to be found, because Turbulences fans and perfume maniacs bought it for future use :-)
Magie Noire Lancome (1978)
Let's start with the good news. It was not taken off the market! It can be found in the public domain, but there are nuances. You can easily find eau de toilette, and we all know that there is a colossal difference in the aroma, although it is good in its own way. If you are nostalgic for Magie Noire perfume, then there is only one option - to look for a vintage perfume.
The perfume was released in 1978. After 10 years of time-out Lancome with the release of new fragrances Magie Noire is truly a grand return of the legendary brand to the perfume market.
The fragrance was created by Gerard Goupy, and the bottle was designed by Pierre Dinand. The bottle looks like the neckline of a woman wearing a black dress. The new bottle of eau de toilette was greatly simplified, it became unremarkable, but with the same enchanting name.
As for the scent itself, it may be a remake and less concentrated, but the French character is heard clearly. A resounding oriental flair, recognizable from childhood from our mothers, whose pier glass did not gather dust without a bottle of French perfume. Caustic, noble, arrogant, status and with a moderate sillage. But this is only eau de toilette, not even perfumery, where the concentration of aromatic substances is higher. And may the readers forgive me, it does not have these ubiquitous citruses, which are pretty boring!
J'ai Ose Guy Laroche (1977)
J'ai Ose was created by the couture label Guy Laroche in 1977. The name of the fragrance in translation into Russian means "I dared".
The famous bottle of this composition was designed by Serge Manso. In the comments they wrote to me that this perfume was called "Napoleon's cap" for its bottle. Agree, there are similarities.
At the moment, there is a huge controversy among perfumers about J'ai Ose. Someone thinks that now they are releasing a remake, which is very good for one nose and may well compete with its first versions. The rest unanimously insist that perfume has not been released for a long time and that all that is now on sale are fakes, which in terms of aroma resemble burnt tires.
On the official site Guy Laroche only two perfumes are commercially available: Fidji and Drakkar noir. We conclude that the risk of running into a fake J'ai Ose is very large, and it is really not released anymore.
The perfumer who created the composition J'ai Ose did not reveal the formula by which the original perfume was made. The fragrances that are now sold under the name J'ai Ose are literally a remake. We tried to recreate the old scent, but due to the prohibitions and the absence of the original formula, the composition was not so solid. Vintage is very difficult to find, even it is forged, many collectors are still in search of the original and offer decent amounts.
FidjiGuy Laroche(1966)
From the first sales, he immediately made a splash, especially in Russia, because the brand Guy Laroche was presented one of the first in our market. Fiji is now considered a classic of the perfume genre.
The slogan of the fragrance says: "A woman is an island, and Fiji is her perfume."
Perhaps because of the name Fiji became so popular in part, because, wrapping themselves in it, women were mentally carried away to a paradise island, fragrant with flowers.
The modern version has also undergone changes, and many fans of the fragrance say that modern Fiji is just memories of Fiji.
Madame Rochas Rochas (1960)
I have already written about the Rochas brand perfume in the first parts of the legendary fragrances. It was FEMME (1944), commissioned by Marcel Roche for his wife Hélène Roche as a wedding present.
Madame Rochas was created after the death of Marcel Rocha by perfumer Guy Robert, where the jasmine flower was taken as the base note. In general, the perfume composition itself has about 200 components. The customer of the fragrance was Helene Rocha, who, after the death of her husband, took the reins of the company into her own hands, and named the fragrance in honor of her beloved.
After several reformulations, modern Madame Rochas is a floral bouquet, moss on the hills of the Kola Peninsula and aldehydes that may seem a little soapy to others. Well, we all have different sense of smell. The only thing that can be said is that the modern version of the language does not dare to call it boring or terrible.
Paloma Picasso (1984)
The creator of the fragrance (maybe someone already guessed) is the daughter of the famous artist Pablo Picasso, Paloma Picasso.
Paloma did not follow in her father's footsteps, she became a jewelry designer, and then also a perfumer. The composition, named after itself, Paloma calls a self-portrait and says that he still wears it. The creator believes that such a perfume will suit a strong and self-confident woman like her.
Well, the chypre there is, I tell you, from the first seconds it makes itself felt that it will be difficult to wear. The scent is really not for the weak!
