Three-layer masks and disposable gloves have been booming in the past few months, and we all know why. Especially now, when a mask regime has been introduced in many cities of our country, that is, wearing a mask and gloves is mandatory.
Due to the high demand, raw materials for these products are becoming more expensive, and manufacturers are not averse to snatching a fat piece of the pie for themselves, making the cheat more than usual. Cheating is inadequate. There have been many examples in our life with a shortage of this or that product, but in order to so inflate prices ...
Those who have been reading my channel for a long time know that I worked as a manager in a professional cosmetics store. We have always had consumables for beauty salons in our assortment. My job was just connected with the purchase of goods from suppliers.
I still keep in touch with my colleagues and asked them for new supplier price lists, with whom we collaborated to see for ourselves how much the wholesale price of masks has increased and gloves.
There are three types of disposable gloves: vinyl, latex and nitrile. Let's just say: there are even more subspecies, the price depends on the density and color of the gloves.
I'll take vinyl gloves as a starting pointbecause they have always been the cheapest and now the suppliers have many items simply out of stock.
Price list for October 2019. We see that the price for the pair was 2 rubles. 47 kopecks, and the price for a pack of 50 pairs is 123 rubles. 61 kopecks. Even with the promotion of the store, the price was quite affordable both for the craftsmen and for us.
Now let's see the price at which the same supplier offers to buy gloves. Lest you think that this is the same reseller and his prices are also wound up, but at factories everything continues to be sold for a penny - I will say this: this is the official representative of one of the brands of gloves.
Price list from the same supplier for April 2020. Now the price for a pair is 10 rubles. 50 kopecks, and the price per package is 525 rubles!
So, the real price (namely, the manufacturer) of vinyl gloves from one of the manufacturers has increased:
- per pair - more than 4 times (growth rate - 425%);
- per pack (50 pairs) - more than 4 times (growth rate - 424.7%).
As you can see, the growth in prices in percentage terms is almost the same, regardless of the volume.
Do not forget the promotion of stores, which are also not averse to making some money on this whole gloomy situation in the world.
Now let's move on to the masks that are required now when leaving the house. Initially, in my city (Kaliningrad), it was necessary to wear masks only indoors and on public transport, now masks are obliged to wear even on the street and change them every 2 hours socks.
We look at the prices that were in September 2019 and we are a little shocked, because the price for gloves seems to have grown not so much.
In the screenshot, we see the number of masks in the package, the cost of one mask and the cost of the package. As you can see, one mask could be bought for less than one ruble.
What now? In the screenshot below the price April 2020 and they are the same supplier.
Okay, huh? Raised the price 25 times! Again, this is the price from the manufacturer, not the store. Give me, if you know, examples when the value of scarce goods was increased in half a year.
This is despite the fact that the masks, let me remind you, are disposable. And they need to be changed every two hours.
In our city, in some supermarkets, packaged masks are sold one by one and they are packaged already in the store itself. Question: who packaged them? How? We touched the masks with our hands, but is this packer sick?
In the fixed-price list, masks are sold for 150 rubles for 5 pieces. And while this is the most humane price that I have seen for masks.
I was lucky that I bought a pack of masks last year when my husband was ill. But this packaging is already running out, soon you will also have to sew yourself. Unfortunately, my supply of gloves is almost running out.

The photo above is a company unknown to me. But I did not find other companies in my city. I don't think this glove manufacturer has excellent quality, because then I would have remembered this brand. Above, I gave screenshots of the price list from the manufacturer of high-quality gloves, which are now sold for 525 rubles. And in the photo - 999 rubles. It is easy to guess that the store winds up the price by about 2 times.
