At the end of autumn I had an unpleasant rash on my body. The first thing I did, of course, ran to a dermatologist. And at the very first visit, he told me to throw out the washcloth and not remember about it.
My rash was not from a washcloth, but I threw it away anyway. However, the question was spinning in my head for a long time, what could be so dangerous in our usual washcloth.
Washcloths are a great place to breed bacteria and mold, especially if they are made from natural materials.
Too rough sponges injure the skin and remove the upper stratum corneum of the epidermis. which takes several days to recover. Therefore, you need to eradicate your habit of rubbing yourself thoroughly with "sandpaper". Moreover, no matter how thoroughly you rinse the washcloth, micro-particles of the epidermis remain on it, which we rub so diligently.
In addition to bacteria that thrive in humid environments, mold and mildew can form on the washcloth from this very moisture. And the presence of the fungus does not necessarily appear in dark spots on the surface of something, this is also worth considering. With each wash, this goodness spreads throughout the body, which can cause itching and rashes. And who at one time reviewed Dr. House, that from the mere mention of the fungus can become bad :-))
The following is worth remembering. Water is a kind of enhancer for the skin, i.e. a conductor of active ingredients in cosmetics, if someone does not know the meaning of this word. Enhancers also include alcohols, fatty acids, essential oils, etc. So, if you increase the number water in the stratum corneum (it is banal to lie down for a couple of minutes in the bathroom or stand under the shower), then permeability will increase. In particular, it will be easier for fungus and harmful microorganisms to penetrate in the washcloth, as well as water-soluble ingredients in cosmetics.
For people with sensitive skin and prone to inflammation, a washcloth should be discarded first.
And how to wash now?
It's simple - washing with shower gel, without a washcloth. Use acid products once a week, for example. Splash mask to help, I already talked about it wrote. Remember to moisturize your skin after every shower. And before going to bed - a nourishing cream. The water-lipid balance of the skin must always be kept healthy.
If giving up a washcloth is not your song, then choose those that are less traumatic to the skin. Rinse and dry the washcloth well after each use. Change it every 3-4 weeks. Better yet, disinfect it once a week. Although, I understand perfectly well that few people will do this, many are either lazy, or simply do not take it seriously, they say, oh gods, so much attention and opuses about a washcloth blah-blah-blah, and then with age, they are the first to run to clean beautician.
Do not use other people's washcloths, and do not allow even the closest people to use yours: your spouse or children.
I completely gave up the washcloth, and I don't regret it at all.
