By the age of 40, Englishwoman Sarah Arnold had reached a weight that allowed her to leave the house only when absolutely necessary. She was not stopped by life-threatening obesity and even the ridicule of others. She was helped by a simple remark from her beloved man, after which something clicked in her head.
Make it a double, please!
Sarah has been full for as long as she can remember. She was raised for the most part by her grandparents, who, like many, fed her granddaughter. By adolescence, Sarah was already wearing a British clothing size 14-16, which corresponds to the Russian size 50-52.
Completeness did not prevent her from arranging her personal life. At the age of 21, on the Internet, she met her beloved man, with whom she lives to this day. All these years, Sarah continued to gain weight, and the process only progressed.
She ate endlessly and could not stop. I went to breakfast at McDonald's and instead of one portion of breakfast ordered two. An avid movie buff, she loved going to the theaters, but soon she needed wider, more expensive seats.
Gradually, Sarah began to avoid public appearances and only went to the movies in the early morning or late evening sessions, which were not so crowded. Walking became difficult over time, because the woman simply could not squeeze between the parked cars.
Taunts and remarks
People laughed at her, once they even photographed them furtively, apparently to show someone what size this unfamiliar woman had reached. But this did not in any way stimulate her to lose weight. For dinner, she could eat several bowls of pasta, while sitting in front of the TV she ate several chocolate bars and endless amounts of chips.
And what is most surprising, Sarah blamed others for her obesity, or rather those who produce this food that she should eat. But this confidence and her history of obesity was interrupted by her beloved man Karl.
One day he simply told her:
“You have to remember that you yourself are responsible for what goes into your mouth. Nobody but you can decide what you will eat. "
At that moment, something clicked in the woman's head, and she immediately decided to give up chocolates, cakes and chips.
Weight loss under the supervision of professionals
Sarah joined Slimming World, a UK-based weight loss organization. With her, over the next eight months, she lost 45 kg. The result inspired her, she wanted to continue. To make the process go faster and more efficiently, Sarah decided to join the popular American weight control program Weight Watchers, whose specialists are developing menus for weight loss.
Continuing to lose weight, she discovered the real taste of life: she began to feel better, work better, finally could pick up clothes in the store, and began to walk a lot.
Three plateau phases, patience and new life
The process of losing weight lasted three years, and for two years after that she successfully maintains her weight. During her weight loss, she experienced three plateau phases during which the weight did not move. This is experienced by almost everyone losing weight for a long time. But the most important thing is to continue in the same spirit, in no case to quit, and even better to reconsider the diet or physical activity.
By the way, Sarah started physical activity much later, when her weight became comfortable for exercising. She signed up for the gym and began to swim in the pool 5-7 times a week, also not forgetting about the rate of 10,000 steps a day.
Today Sarah is 45 and has lost 120 kg in total.
