Brittany began to notice that she was getting fatter than her peers at the age of 14. She returned to school after vacation and found that she weighs 80 kg - she had never before recovered so quickly.
Hormones + appetite
At the age of 16, the girl began to have health problems. She went to the doctor with severe abdominal pain. The examination showed that Brittany had polycystic ovary syndrome and a ruptured cyst. To establish a cycle and normalize hormonal levels, the doctor prescribed hormonal pills to Brittany, due to which the girl's appetite increased greatly. As a result, Brittany's weight has grown from 80 to 114 kg over 3 years of constant medication.
She saw that something needed to be changed, that she was already obese. Like many girls, Brittany began trying different diets, up to 500 calories a day and exercise. But, like many, I could not stand it for a long time and just quit. The weight jumped like on a swing - a little negative, then even more positive.
Study stress + fast food
Moving on to college, Brittany immersed herself in her studies with constant stress and an even more irregular fast food diet. She ate 3,000 calories a day, her weight, of course, grew. By the time she entered the university, the girl weighed 130 kg and was desperate to change something.
At the age of 25 after graduation, Brittany consulted a doctor for weight loss. He proposed an operation to resect the stomach. At first she got scared and refused, deciding to try to reduce the weight on her own, taking up herself once again. She began to eat healthy food and exercise, but suddenly her cyst reminded of herself, and then Brittany still decided on bariatric surgery, which was supposed to make losing weight easier and more controlled process.
Less 80% of the stomach
Bariatric surgery required 6 months of preparation, during which Brittany attended courses where she and others who were losing weight were taught to eat right and lead a healthy lifestyle. Also during this time she had to lose weight on her own. During the operation, Brittany removed 80% of her stomach, which subsequently allowed the girl to be satisfied with small portions of food.
Operation is not everything
In the first six months after the operation, Brittany lost 36 kg, losing an average of 6 kg per month. She ate about 1,000 calories a day in small meals, also practicing intermittent fasting and significantly reducing her carbohydrate intake.
Approximate diet of Brittany for weight loss:
Breakfast: yogurt and fruit or protein shake
Lunch: chicken or turkey with cauliflower or broccoli
Dinner: chicken or turkey with fruit or spaghetti
Physical activity was also not done. Brittany worked out every day in two fitness studios. Doing both cardio and strength exercises. Plus, she took the dog for long walks every day.
Brittany admits that after losing weight, the biggest change is that her life no longer revolves around food. But she, like many people who have lost weight with the help of bariatric surgery, is condemned for weakness and for "passive weight loss", in which her merits allegedly do not exist at all. But this is not at all the case, because the operation is not everything.
“I want my Instagram readers to understand that surgery does not make losing weight less worthy and respectable. Because after it you need to make a lot of effort to maintain a new way of life, and this requires attention and willpower. "
In just over a year after the operation, Brittany lost a total of 66 kg.
