A dog is a friend of man, however, sometimes you have to part with it. For some, this decision is not easy, others give the dog away with relief, because life with it is a burden. In addition to shelters and self-walking, pets are attached on their own through friends, social networks and volunteer groups that can specialize in specific breeds.
There is a group on the VKontakte social network "Pedigree dogs as a gift"where owners from all over Russia are trying to put their pets in good hands. Judging by the community posts, you can see certain statistics and make a rating.
We counted the breeds of attached dogs for several months and found out which owners refuse most often, making this rating in descending order.
10 dog breeds most often abandoned by owners
* according to the statistics of the community "Pedigree dogs as a gift"
1. Husky
Grown up and adult huskies are often abandoned by their owners, attaching them to good hands, but a huge number of dogs are simply thrown out into the street, or they run away on their own.
Husky puppies are adorable wolf cubs with blue eyes and a fluffy coat that simply cannot leave you indifferent. But when they grow up, they begin to destroy the house, or they are kept on the site and are not going to take them into the apartment when they move.
There are many complaints about the active molting of the husky, which, in the absence of measures, leads to tons of wool at home, and the unbridled appetite of these energetic pets.
2. Rottweiler
If we exclude the husky, the deplorable situation of which is well known, the Rottweiler is the absolute leader in terms of "civilized attachment" in the group. This powerful protective dog can be both a guardian and an affectionate family member. Another thing is that sometimes women and children cannot cope with a Rottweiler.
There are also complaints about the zooaggression of Rottweilers and uncontrollable dogs due to the lack of proper education. When a Rottweiler becomes (or seems) dangerous, the owners look for a new home for their pet.
3. German Shepherd
In some European countries, including Germany and France, the German Shepherd has been the most popular breed for several decades. In our country, she is also very popular. Many shepherd dogs serve all their lives (in the police, army, guard state enterprises), and when they "retire" they have to look for new owners.
People also take German Shepherds to their homes as a companion dog after watching the popular "cops" TV series. As a result, it turns out that the owners are either not ready to provide the pet with competent training, or they cannot cope with their unclaimed instincts.
4. Alabai (Central Asian Shepherd Dog)
Like the husky, the Alabai is a hostage to its appearance and breed characteristics. These outwardly imperturbable giants are often taken to the yard to guard a site or enterprise, and after moving from the private sector, the owners are not going to take such a large dog into the apartment. Moreover, Alabai, who have lived all their lives in an aviary, most often do not have any skills of living in an apartment, so it is very difficult to attach them in adulthood and adapt to a new life.
5. Dachshund
Dachshund is a very popular dog due to its compact size. Many take it as a companion, but are not ready to cope with their hunting instincts. This breed is really hyperactive, can show aggression towards cats, chasing them on the street, and also actively vandalize at home alone.
The owners who took the sofa dog are disappointed in their choice. Often, in relation to this breed, the owners hear the characteristic: "This dog is not for an apartment", therefore they give it to a private house with the opportunity to run on the site.
6. Amstaffs, pit bulls
These dogs, which are usually called fighting dogs, were incredibly popular in the nineties and remain so today. Many people have pets of these particular breeds as a fashion accessory that increases self-esteem and the image in the eyes of others as the owner of a cool and serious dog with a frightening look.
A huge number of pit bulls and amstaffs are forced to look for new families due to the fact that the owners have no time they are fully engaged, either a child was born, or they cannot cope with a dog due to lack of education. It even happens that a dog who was taken as a guard suddenly turns out to be too affectionate.
7. Spaniels
Exactly like the owners of dachshunds, the owners of spaniels in the hope of a four-legged companion cannot always cope with the hunting instincts of a dog that chases cats and drags domestic game, if it lives in the private sector. And it also happens the other way around, when hunters take a spaniel as a working dog, but it does not live up to expectations.
The health and appearance of any spaniel requires a lot of attention: it needs care for the coat, as well as for the eyes, ears, which are prone to diseases. This is unnecessary trouble for the owners.
8. Labrador Retriever
The Labrador is suffering from its incredible popularity as a family dog, an ideal companion and nanny for children. Very often he is turned on in this capacity, and then a divorce happens, and the Labrador has to look for a new family. Or a child was born and an allergy appeared ...
Another reason is sudden aggression, which manifests itself in a dog without education, which is not expected from a cute labrik.
9. Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff)
This breed is somewhat similar to the Rottweiler: the owners often choose from these two breeds, and the same group helps refuseniks. People give birth to this beautiful, powerful and serious dog, being unable to cope with its breed characteristics - physical strength, protective qualities and dominant character.
It is believed that the Cane Corso is a dog of one owner, mainly a man. A huge number of Cane Corso are being rebuilt in connection with the move from house to apartment, as well as the aggression that she shows, protecting her master - both in relation to strangers and to others family members.
10. Doberman
This sleek service book often faces the same problems as a Rottweiler with a Cane Corso. They take him for beauty and for protection, but then something goes wrong. Doberman pinscher is hyperactive, he needs active walks with games, aggression with bites and protection of his master is also frequent.
The Doberman team often accepts these dogs with problematic behavior and a complete lack of upbringing. Rough Dobermans, like huskies, often, alas, find themselves on the street. They are already afraid of them at home, but it is impossible to attach them, as potential owners are also afraid to take this difficult breed in a state of disrepair.
