Everybody had a sore throat. Even if it is a bacterial sore throat, then we can well cope with it only due to our immunity.

Sometimes the immune system is wrong, and sore throat leads to complications.

Complications are purulent and non-purulent.

A purulent complication is an abscess in the throat. It's easy to deal with.

Non-suppurative complications come from the so-called group A streptococcus. This is harder.

Our immunity hates this streptococcus so much that it is ready, together with the microbe, to devour connective tissue in different parts of our body. This is called rheumatic fever.

Rheumatic fever attacks the heart valves. They are browned and shriveled. The heart then does not work properly. You might even die.

Typically, group A streptococcus is spread from person to person as the common cold. Outbreaks of streptococcal infection occur in organized groups of young people - in schools, among the military.

This is a bacterium, not a virus, and therefore it can live for some time not only in our snot, but also, for example, in food.

If the virus, during storage, simply lies and gradually collapses, then with streptococcus a different story. These microbes multiply. Moreover, they grow not only at body temperature, but at room temperature.

There are young people who hang out with other young people, get infected with streptococcus, carry it in themselves, pass it on to friends, but they themselves do not suffer too much.

Socially active young people often work in the preparation, packaging and delivery of fast food. With this fast food, the carrier of streptococcus can spread the infection. Literally.

Inside the butters, streptococcus doesn't just lie and wait for its victim. The microbe multiplies and gains strength. Then it gets into someone's throat and causes illness.

If the stars come together, then from such an infection there will be rheumatic fever, which can destroy the heart.

So much for your dirty sandwich.
