Why pneumonia does not resolve

Now people are in panic looking for pneumonia. Even where there is no inflammation.

A separate horror story is slowly resolving pneumonia.

If a huge number of people are sitting at home with their pneumonia and slowly recovering, then it is better not to look inside them with an X-ray. Because you can get upset.

There are always such situations when a person feels better, but everything is still scary on the X-ray. And this is usually okay, because the picture may lag.

And in general, pneumonia is given a month and a half to disappear from the screens. American pulmonologists even have this rule: if a person with pneumonia recovers by 5-7 days, then it is better for him not to do an x-ray. And so it is clear that everything is fine. There is no point in worrying about the picture.

Did not help

There is another story. A person becomes sour with his pneumonia for a week or two, but it does not get any easier for him. There may be several reasons:

Slow recovery

If a person has many different ailments, then pneumonia may not even be in the first place. The body redistributes resources in such a way, the recovery is delayed. The body has enough other problems.

Or the pneumonia itself is severe. Or a persistent infection. All this leads to a very slow recovery.

Abscess

The microbe that caused the pneumonia can create an abscess somewhere in a secluded, delimited place.

Well, that is, pneumonia itself is a sea of pus that soaks the lungs. Usually, all this slurry is well absorbed and does not accumulate anywhere. But if somewhere there is a cavity with dense walls, where blood and immune cells do not get well, then you will get a pool of liquid pus. You can't just pump it out of there.

Closed bronchus

If the bronchus is completely blocked, then the air will dissolve, part of the lung will collapse, and nothing will be coughing up. Even without any infection, it already looks like pneumonia. The bronchus can be blocked by some kind of tumor. An unpleasant story.

Slow contagion

Some kind of tuberculosis or fungus can take a very long time to germinate in the lungs and take just as long to recover. Have you heard how TB patients get sick for years? This is it.

Or is it not pneumonia at all

Easy. It could be a tumor or inflammatory lung disease. It is clear that such things live their own lives.

From all this, the conclusion: it is better to contact a specialist. There are so many complexities in this topic that you may not be able to cope at home yourself.
