Hello! I have been working as a doctor for 22 years. My name is Georgy Olegovich Sapego. In this article I will talk about pulmonary edema from high blood pressure.
About one in three people have high blood pressure. Sometimes this pressure cannot be controlled without medication. Sometimes people treat their blood pressure in the wrong way, and it periodically scales.
If such pressure surges are accompanied by damage to something in our body, then this is called a hypertensive crisis. During a hypertensive crisis, the eyes, kidneys, heart may be damaged, or a vessel in the head may burst. And there is also pulmonary edema.
We have already discussed pulmonary edema in several articles. You can check them out on the links below. There is just a good example of pulmonary edema from cold water in athletes.
That is, it turns out such a paradox - pulmonary edema should be in heart failure, but it can roll in people with strong hearts.
During a hypertensive crisis, something similar happens. It cannot be said that hypertensive patients have a strong heart, but without that jump in blood pressure, no pulmonary edema would have been expected in them in the near future.
And now the relatively strong heart of a hypertensive patient, which is already used to pumping blood under high pressure, at some point fails. He just can't pump blood out of his lungs. The blood stagnates in the lungs, and the liquid part of the blood under pressure sweats into the intercellular space. The lungs become saturated with water and are less likely to deliver oxygen to the blood vessels. The person suddenly begins to choke.
If you have been prescribed treatment for arterial hypertension, then try to control this matter. If something is not clear, which is better, consult your doctor once again. A hypertensive crisis also happens to young people. How it will manifest itself - no one knows in advance.
