Hello! I have been a doctor for 21 years. My name is Georgy Olegovich Sapego. In this article, I'll talk about vitamin K. He is both a medicine and an antidote for rat poison, and strengthens bones, and does not let calcium in the artery.

We need vitamin K for blood clotting. If you think that folding is bad, then you are greatly mistaken. In our body, there is a constant war of coagulation and anti-coagulation systems. If the blood does not coagulate well, then it will pour through all the cracks. So we need vitamin K so that something does not bleed.

By some natural irony, our anticoagulant system also needs vitamin K in an extreme situation. You can get confused.

Have you heard about the wonderful medicine warfarin, which inhibits the formation of blood clots? In terms of dosage and complexity, warfarin is similar to insulin. For him, you also have to buy a special device home. So vitamin K is a warfarin antagonist, very similar in structure to it. Can you imagine how serious the vitamin is?

Fortunately, people are almost never deficient in vitamin K. Occasionally something like this happens to babies or patients who have poor absorption of fat.

Yes, I almost forgot - vitamin K is referred to as fat-soluble vitamins. That is, it is difficult to absorb.

Suction

In food, vitamin K is associated with proteins. Therefore, in the small intestine, these proteins must be cleaved by pancreatic enzymes. It is clear that not every pancreas is healthy enough to digest everything well.

And also vitamin K must be mixed with bile. Only then will it be absorbed.

And that is not all. Vitamin K must get into the liver, which changes it from one fat shirt to another. In this festive shirt, vitamin K can already be married, that is, run for its intended purpose. You've probably guessed that serious problems with the pancreas and liver will lead to a lack of vitamin K.

He still saves from rat poison

Rat poison is often made with anti-clotting drugs. And vitamin K acts as an antidote. If someone is poisoned with rat poison, they will be saved with vitamin K.

Bones

Vitamin K is involved to some extent in building bones, so they even wanted to adapt it for the treatment of osteoporosis. But until something has grown together somehow (sorry for the pun!).

Calcium in vessels

Vitamin K is needed in those places where calcium is persistently trying to be deposited in the arteries. Therefore, they want to adapt it for the treatment of coronary heart disease. And so far they are only trying.

Where to get it

Dark green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, or kale are abundant in vitamin K. If you try, you can even eat it from bananas.

Vitamin K is also found in animal products like liver, where the unfortunate animals have already stored it. But this source of vitamin K doesn't really matter.

It is clear that our body would not count on imported kale in such serious matters, therefore it grows vitamin K at home. We have microbes in the intestines that can make this vitamin. We feed the microbes with our food, and they feed us vitamin K.

Is it possible to overeat vitamin K

Can. But that only matters for people who get pills like warfarin. And even if they eat multivitamin complexes, then there is no bust. But they shouldn't eat more than half a glass of Brussels sprouts a day. This is what the power of natural vitamins means!

Such people are not recommended to refuse greenery. This is not rational. It would be more correct to simply monitor the amount of vegetables in the diet.
