I have already written a lot of materials about the benefits of vitamin D. And now many scientists note that it can greatly help us in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In general, people around the world are deficient in vitamin D. Of course, you should not look for the root of all problems in this, but I always strive to harmonize the balance of hormones, vitamins and other things with my patients.

Vitamin D is a collective term that includes more than 50 metabolites of fat-soluble active compounds. The main forms of vitamin D are D2 (ergocalciferol, comes from plant sources) and D3 (cholecalciferol, which is formed in human skin when exposed to UV radiation). And another part of it enters the body with animal food. Then, in the kidneys, these compounds are converted into biologically active calcitriol (25 (OH) 2D), in fact, into a hormone.

Vitamin D3 has a great effect on calcium-phosphorus metabolism. Largely thanks to him we have strong bones. But like any hormone, D3 works for the entire body.

For example, this hormone affects

- for the synthesis of testosterone and for implantation, that is, the attachment of a fertilized egg, in the uterus.

- the degree and rate of progression of dementia (senile dementia),

- also many scientists associate definite oncological safety at normal D3 level.

But what's that!

The most recent data from scientists thundered like a bolt from the blue: normal D3 levels have a protective effect against coronavirus infection.

The problem is that it is unrealistic for residents of Russia with a lack of sunlight to develop a sufficient amount of D3. It is very difficult to get enough of it from food.

Therefore, only dietary supplements remain.

How do you know how much vitamin D3 to take?

Here, alas, you cannot tell without analysis.

Even in our northern country there are unique ones with a normal vitamin content in the blood, and an overdose does not bode well.

The laboratories are still working, but it is better to wait until the restrictions are lifted, donate blood and, based on the level of D3 you have, take D3 for its normal concentration in the blood. A normal D3 level is 30 ng / ml.

Don't know your starting D3 level yet, try to eat a varied and healthy diet, alternating between animal and plant foods, without going over calories.
You can add 400IU D3 per day, this is a small dosage that will not harm anyone, even those with normal levels.

Your Doctor Pavlova.

They say you don't need to take Omega-3. Whom to listen to?
