Hello dear subscribers and guests of the “Magnificent Century. Love and intrigue ”!
More than a week has passed since the execution of Shehzade Mustafa was shown to us, but the passions in the comments have not subsided until now. You are actively discussing, sometimes even arguing about who is really responsible for the execution of Shehzade Mustafa.
Let me give you my opinion ...
Some readers believe that Makhidevran is to blame, others - Khyurrem - the sultan, and there are those who consider the padishah to be guilty.
I believe that only Sultan Suleiman Khan Khazret Leri is guilty of Mustafa's execution. I'll try to explain why.
Of course, Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska, Mikhrimakh and Rustem Pasha started a dirty intrigue against Shehzade, and this time they managed to slander Mustafa.
BUT,what did the padishah think?
When the sovereign received a letter from Shah Tahmasp, he did not think for a minute about the origin of this letter.
Suleiman immediately identified Mustafa as a traitor, although shortly before that, shehzade received a poisoned caftan from the ruler, and this proves that they want to get rid of him.
Suleiman could conduct his own investigation. For example, send this letter to Mustafa and intercept the messenger with the son's answer. So he probably knew if his fellow was in collusion with the shah or if it was another setup.
But, no, Suleiman decided everything for himself, and to calm his soul he asked Ebusuud Efendi for advice, knowing what the answer would be.
For Suleiman, the throne and power were dearer than their own children.
He saw the love of the Janissaries for Mustafa, and also knew that a secret society had been created to support Mustafa. And this means that the uprising can begin without Mustafa's knowledge. Suleiman was most afraid of this.
Later, he decides to shift the burden of responsibility for his act onto the shoulders of Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska, but she said correctly:
- Without your order, not even a leaf will fall from a tree.
Therefore, I believe that only one person is to blame for the execution of Mustafa - Sultan Suleiman. At stake was not the life of a slave, but of his own son. But the sovereign did not bother to conduct his own investigation, he did not even give Mustafa an opportunity to justify himself, but simply meanly and cowardly deprived him of his life, thereby saving himself from fear.
Fear of losing your throne and your power.
