Judging by the series "The Magnificent Century", the marriage of Mihrimah - Sultan and Rustem - Pasha can hardly be called happy. The spouses have lived in the same palace for a long time, but each has its own chambers.
In the harem, everyone (except Suleiman) knew that Mihrimah never loved Pasha and got married at the direction of her mother.
Of course, she is the daughter of the ruler himself and could refuse to marry her not beloved pasha, but Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska managed to convey to her daughter that this marriage would help protect her beloved brothers from the sharp sword of enemies.
Although the first years of marriage were not happy for Mihrimah, they did not weigh her down. But everything changed when another sister of the sovereign, Fatma, the Sultan, arrived at the palace, who, with a friendly smile on her face, unobtrusively told Mihrimah about her youth, beauty and strong love.
Any person who is deprived of something will desire it with a vengeance. Fatma - the sultan knew which strings to pull in order to finally destroy the family union of Mihrimah and Rustem. And at some point, she almost succeeded.
A handsome and courageous Persian Shehzade Alkas Mirza arrived in the capital hoping to get the support of the Sultan and take the Persian throne.
Fatma Sultan, seeing the interested look of Mihrimah on the Persian shahzad, tries to push her to commit a sin.
At first, she does not intrusively tell Alkas to Mirza, then during a visit to the palace of the grand vizier, you need to present a gift to his wife, and there is no laurel in their garden.
Alkas Mirza presents Mihrimah with an unusual gift, which makes her heart jolt.
Later, Mihrimah receives a letter, the name of the sender of which is unknown, and decides that this message is from the Persian Shahzadeh himself.
Mikhrimakh decides to answer the letter, and Rustem Pasha finds her doing this.
Unlike Mihrimah, the Pasha loved his mistress very much and for the sake of her love he was ready to give up a lot, but he could not melt the ice in his wife's heart.
After reading the reply message to Mihrimakh, Rustem was furious, deciding that his wife had entered into a sinful relationship with someone.
He started shouting for his wife to name the recipient of the letter.
But, Mihrimah, saying that in all her life she did not commit an act for which she or her family would have to blush.
Later, on reflection, Mihrimakh realized that marriage with Rustem - Pasha had become an overwhelming burden for her and decided to divorce him.
And Khyurrem, the Sultan, informs the Pasha about his decision. Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska - the sultan of course tried to reason with her daughter, but Mihrimah reminded her mother that she was no longer a child who obediently fulfills all her orders.
Mihrimah even managed to shout twice:
- I'm getting divorced!
But, Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska managed to persuade her daughter to postpone the divorce until a military campaign, which will last at least two years.
Whether the mysterious letter for Mihrimah's decision to divorce served - I don't think. Most likely, the mistress was simply tired of this marriage, about her young years and hormones asked for love and freedom.
