Now there is a lot of information on various social networks about how “life was good in the USSR”. Young people listen and admire, because grandfathers and grandmothers assure that life in Soviet times was easier, more colorful and cheaper. Today I want to tell the truth about those times. The article is based on the story of a Soviet family, which just caught the 70-80s of the last century. How did they live, and was it good for them?
On income in the USSR
We are talking about the average family living in a large multimillionaire. There were no party people in the family. The head of the family was an ordinary worker, he did not have a prestigious education, he worked day after day, and received 300 rubles once a month. His wife, who is also a hearth keeper, worked in a local clinic, and, as a doctor, earned only 180 rubles. And this is taking into account additional shifts. Also in the family lived a retired grandmother, whose pension was 70 rubles a month. In total, the total family income was 550 rubles.
Now about the costs
Utility bills were 12 rubles per month. And here I just can't be surprised. Compared to income, these are mere pennies. If you count on today's earnings, then the difference is big... Today, people living in multimillionaires, and receiving an average salary, are forced to pay for utilities for 7-9 thousand rubles. It turns out that the amount is much higher if we identify its compliance with the current salary and compare it with Soviet times.
Food shortage
This is a problem that existed in Soviet times. There were products, and they were in normal quantities. But the price was such that not everyone could afford all the products. But, for example, buying a stick of sausage for a family of two working people was no problem. It was the same with meat. On the market, its cost was about 3-4 rubles, and, by the way, meat was always available, and the choice was varied. It is also worth considering that meat in the store, like other products, was cheaper. But people more often bought them on the market, which cost them 2 or even 3 times more.
More about meat
A kilogram of meat in those days was about 1 in 183 of the total family income. Now meat is much more expensive. They ask about 400 rubles per kilogram on the market. If you calculate, then the family's income should be approximately 65 thousand rubles. In principle, the average family has it like that, although... Now everything happens ...
Transport
The public transport fare was about 4 rubles. Today the fare is 25 rubles. If translated in proportion to today's manner, the salary should be 98 thousand rubles a month. And this amount is still too much for an average family. This, considering that she is a doctor and he is a worker.
Of course, it is worth considering the fact that the range of prices used to be different when compared with today's times. For example, with regards to electronics, then it was expensive. Now it can be purchased at an affordable and even very pleasant price. For example, a color TV set in the USSR cost fabulous money! So, there is nothing to be surprised when you watch a movie of those times, and people do not have a normal TV, or it is given to the family on the day of the wedding. The gift was considered very valuable! The same can be said about clothes. Now the price is more than affordable. Nobody forces you to buy in branded boutiques! And in Soviet times, even ordinary trousers and a dress could not just go and buy an average enterprise worker.
