Buying a car from hands, i.e. used, sometimes not the most budget option. If you do not carefully review the car before buying, then repairing it later can hit your pocket hard. I am not an expert, but I am roughly familiar with what and how to check in a car before purchasing it.

What needs to be checked in the car before buying?

  • are there any improvements;
  • is there any repainting;
  • was there a car in an accident;
  • availability of original tech. passports.

If you have even the slightest doubts while inspecting the car, then immediately proceed to another option.

If you have received satisfactory answers to all of the above points, then you can proceed to a more detailed inspection of the car. There is one recommendation, it is better to go to inspect the car, not alone, but with a friend who "fumbles" in the cars. Take a notebook with you so that you can immediately write down any flaws you notice. And it is better to inspect the car in bright light during the day. There is no need to do an inspection in the garage, in the salon, etc.

Detailed inspection of the machine

Hood

Open and close the hood 2-3 times. So you will check the reliability of the lock, and you will be able to inspect everything inside for the presence of rust. Also remember to check the lever in the cabin to open the hood.

Body

When inspecting the body, note that if the places with a difference in the color of the coating or with a non-monochromatic painting, then this, of course, is a sign that the car was repainted. And the reason could be corrosion and road accidents.

If the body is too perfect without roughness and scratches, this is also a sign that the car was recently painted after an accident.

Inspect the car in profile, as well as the back and front with the doors slammed. The doors should not be pressed very tightly, or, on the contrary, protrude. In addition, the gaps between the hood, door gaps, and the tailgate must be the same. If there are deviations, then the car was modified after the accident.

Engine compartment

Evaluate the condition of the nodes by eye, see if there are any smudges. This is best seen on a dirty engine, and on a clean one you can wipe all the places with paper.

It is also necessary to check the density of special fluids and engine oil, for the absence of impurities.

Don't forget the wiring and piping. Good condition - no sharp breaks, breakdowns, cracks. If you come across updated parts, you must definitely check with the car seller why the old ones were replaced.

The motor during operation should not emit any extraneous sounds.

Examine the air conditioner and radiators for foreign objects, dents, deformations.

Check the tightening of the struts, cups and mudguards should not be loose.

Doors

View rubber bands, seams, sills. The seam changed after repair will differ from the “native” one in size and shape. Check everything for any extra washers, etc.

Check whether the windows, handles, locks, buttons are in good condition. The panels must be securely fastened without gaps.

Each door must be opened and closed 2-3 times, checking the completeness and ease of operation. Find out the reason if the door is difficult to close.

You also need to inspect the roof of the car for the absence of dents, traces of replacement, differences in the shade of staining, damage to the weirs and violation of geometry. And don't forget to watch the gas cap close and open.

Well, something like this. Is there something to complement me, motorists?
