Recently, on the Internet, you can often see articles about the wonderful life in the Union. It was tastier, cheaper, quieter, and safer. Therefore, today I propose to understand this topic, and dispel myths about the rainbow life in the USSR. Indeed, was everything as beautiful as the clever guys write?

The USSR had ideal preschool institutions

Myths about life in the USSR. Was everything so rosy?

Yes, during the USSR there were a lot of kindergartens when compared with the United States. And this, as it were, showed the economy from its best side. But no one took into account that in America even one parent could safely support his child, so there was no need to push him to the kindergarten. And in the USSR there was an article punishing parasitism, so both parents were forced to work. Therefore, there were many kindergartens. What was going on there? It was quite normal to physically punish children, to force them to do what they did not want. So the children were taught that power is always stronger, and also that being an individual is bad, you need to play only in a team, be like everyone else, walk in formation. Therefore, no, the gardens were not ideal in the Soviet Union!

There was quality baby food in the USSR

Parents had to send their children to kindergarten early and go to work. Therefore, many grew up without breast milk, and this was the norm. But there was practically no baby food. Now you can go to any supermarket and buy mashed potatoes and cereals to your taste and preferences baby, and before moms cooked everything with their own hands, and, of course, milk was added everywhere and semolina. Therefore, according to statistics, about 70% of children were overweight. In the gardens, the food was of poor quality. Do you know why? Yes, the children were supposed to have good food, but the kindergarten workers tried to take all the quality products home, and the children ate something less tasty and healthy. So no, baby food was low.

They gave a good education in the USSR

In schools, too, they did not allow to show individuality, everyone walked in the same uniform, formation, everyone was forced to write with their right hand. Are you left-handed? This is tantamount to betrayal, retrain to write with your right hand. If the child is talented, he was forced not to stand out. If a child learns better than others, he could be bullied by students. Freedom of thought was punished. And in particular, no one tried to give a good education to children, the main thing is that the class is successful, that is, so that there are no poor students, otherwise the indicators will be low.

In the USSR, children had freedom

What kind of freedom can we talk about if they were forced to be like everyone else, to study, to work? If you are not on duty at school, both you and the whole class will be punished. They constantly went to get potatoes and to collect other crops, forced to clean up in the school yard. Where is freedom and happiness?

It was much safer to live in the USSR

This is not true. Many say that it was safe to live in the Soviet Union that even at night it was possible not to close the front door. All people are brothers, everyone loved each other. This is not true. According to statistics, during Soviet times, crime was very high. By the way, there were a lot of teenage rapes, the very ones who were forced to work on plantations after school!

There was free housing in the USSR

Misconception. Older people say they received their housing for free from the state. But, if you look at it, you can understand that they did a lot of work, and received much less for it. Everything that was underpaid and went to the subsequent purchase of housing. People stood in line for housing for 20-30 years, and could not, by the way, sell it later ...

There was good free medicine in the USSR

Not true. Unfortunately, this myth came from people who held good positions. But not all segments of the population had access to good medicine. There were many queues for medicines, medical workers worked poorly, took bribes and presents for their services. The dentists did not use anesthesia in their work. Therefore, people are so fond of traditional medicine.

There was stability and prosperity in the USSR

Lying. Another common myth says that there was enough salary for almost everything. But this is not so, an ordinary worker could not afford good food, furniture, and even more so a car.

Probably the only true statement about the USSR is that everyone around us was afraid of our state. Unfortunately, the life of Soviet citizens did not get any better from the fact that there were many weapons and tanks in the country.
