5 ways to freeze strawberries for the winter

The strawberry season has already begun, and I really want to somehow preserve the tasty and healthy berry so that you can eat it in winter too. I solved this problem a long time ago, and every year I freeze strawberries for future use. It is very convenient in winter to get a magic box with a fragrant berry and enjoy its taste, remembering the summer.

How to freeze strawberries correctly?

Sort the strawberries before freezing them. We put aside the low-quality berry, and put the whole and ripe one in a large container. Next, pour the strawberries with water, rinse thoroughly, and remove all green leaves. And then I offer you 5 freezing options at once for your taste!

Freezing strawberries in sugar

For 1 kilogram of strawberries, you need 200 grams of sugar. It is better to choose a small berry for this method of freezing. Put the berries in a bowl, add sugar, mix gently, and put in suitable containers. Cover them tightly with lids and put them in the freezer. It couldn't be easier! After such freezing, strawberries completely leave their color, aroma, taste and freshness!

Freeze in puree

Sugar in this recipe should be taken to taste. Here's how I do it. Beat about a pound of strawberries in a blender, add sugar to taste, and stir until it is all dissolved. Next, spread the cooked strawberries over the containers, pour the berry puree over it, close the lids and store.

Strawberry puree

For a kilogram of berries, take sugar to taste and be sure to add a tablespoon of lemon juice. Strawberries for this kind of freezing can be taken in absolutely any size. I really like this method, because then you can eat berry puree and add it to ice cream, bake any pastries from it, and even cook compote. So, sort out the berry, and then grind it with a blender or a meat grinder - whichever is more convenient for you. Sugar can be added to taste, I like to add somewhere around 200-300 grams per kilogram of strawberries. Immediately add sugar to the mashed potatoes, squeeze a spoonful of lemon juice, and stir the mashed potatoes until the sugar dissolves. It usually takes about 3 minutes. Lemon juice will help keep strawberries in their stunning color. To freeze strawberry puree, you can use both plastic containers and special bags or, in general, silicone molds. Send the strawberries to the freezer, let them wait in the wings!

Berry in syrup

There is nothing complicated in cooking either. For 1.5 kilograms of strawberries, you will need a glass of sugar and a liter of water. Small berries and medium-sized ones are suitable here. Washed out, sorted out, and laid out in containers. Next is the turn of the syrup. Pour sugar into a liter of warm water and stir until it is all dissolved. It remains only to pour the ready-made syrup over the berry, and you're done. Close containers with lids and send to freeze.

Whole strawberry

And the last way to freeze. Elementary! Rinse the berries, remove the sepals, and put them all on any surface so that it dries well. Now you need to cover the container of the freezer with cling film, and put the berry in one layer there. Just leave a small distance between the strawberries so that the berries do not come into contact with each other. That's it, let the strawberries lie for 2 hours, and only then you can put them in bags and put them in the freezer for storage.
