Putting on our favorite pajamas or a spectacular shirt for the night, we often do not think: is it necessary? We just follow the habit we have developed since childhood. Is it really wise to sleep without clothes, as psychologists often advise, or to stay faithful to the things you know and love?
Benefits of naked rest
Our ancestors went to bed in shirts and - more recently - pajamas not on a whim. The houses were not heated sufficiently, it was often necessary to go to the toilet in the yard... And not one, not even two people, but a whole family could live in a room.
Under such conditions, nightwear was a vital necessity. The requirements of morality and religion also influenced the choice of sleeping clothes. But now we live quite differently! So let's figure it out, it's really good to sleep without clothes.
Pros of relaxing without special outfits:
1. The body breathes, automatically maintains the optimal temperature, rests from tight things and annoying rubber bands.
2. The skin is rejuvenated by rubbing against the bedding or the skin of a partner, both by improving blood circulation and by the production of oxytocin, the "attachment" hormone.
3. The lack of clothing is natural, the tactile sensations are enhanced. Accordingly, natural sensuality increases, a feeling of emancipation appears. This improves not only the psychological state in general, but also makes the relationship in a couple more harmonious.
4. Fewer covers on the body reduces body temperature and improves sleep quality: it has long been known that you sleep better in cold weather.
5. Reduced wardrobe spending. Indeed, why buy a shirt or pajamas if the rest is better without them?
When the habit of sleeping naked is inappropriate
No matter how comfortable it is to relax naked, sometimes we cannot afford it. When will the desire to sleep without clothes bring us discomfort or unnecessary problems?
1. Living in a large family without a separate bedroom. Like it or not, but if there are several generations of a family in one room, you will have to dress. Do not ask your father-in-law to turn away in the morning to put on a robe! The same applies to trips, hostels and other situations where the premises have to be shared with someone else.
2. The temperature in the bedroom is too low. If in the room the thermometer shows 12... 15 degrees, it is unlikely that you will go to sleep without pajamas. Perhaps in a special sleeping bag designed for extreme overnight stays.
3. The habit of opening up. Many people sleep restlessly, regardless of the temperature regime and the presence / absence of clothing. In a cool room, a discarded blanket can cause colds. This is especially true for children.
4. Strong internal discomfort. If you can't fall asleep without pajamas or a shirt, well, it's better to be reconciled with them. Or, at the very least, change habits gradually by buying lighter and more open items.
5. Monthly difficulties in women's life. Alas, you can't do without a minimum amount of clothes if you don't want to wash all the bed linen and clean the mattress at the same time.
Everyone should decide whether it is useful to sleep without clothes on their own, based on their own inner sense of comfort and common sense. Have a good night's sleep!
