Greetings, friends!
As a rule, high varieties with large fruits lead, leaving one stem. Everything is logical: it is easier for the bush and the plants feel much better, as they are ventilated. Sometimes it becomes necessary to form a tomato into two stems.
Many people decide to leave the first lowest branch as the second stem. But this is a mistake that has led crowds of gardeners to crop loss.
The first stepson is different in that he always builds up greens. However, it delays the development of the entire bush. It is unlikely that a decent crop can be obtained from such a plant.
The second stem in tall tomatoes should always be left by the main stepson. It is very easy to find it. This is the branch that grows under the first flower cluster. This stepson almost instantly, through a few leaves, gives a flower brush. The fruits appear at the same time a little later, but this is not scary. The deadline is shifted by a couple of weeks.
I was greedy this year and left the first brush on the main stepson.
It is this stepson who is outgrowing with incredible speed. You need to constantly monitor, otherwise it has already become more than the permitted 10 cm. If it is already higher, then it cannot be removed, the plant will be difficult to recover. Therefore, you can allow the very first brush to grow, and after a couple of leaves appear above it, you need to pinch the top of the stepson well. The bush will not hurt, he will not even notice it, and the harvest will definitely be better.
This stepson has tremendous growth energy. It does not inhibit the growth of the main stem of the bush and does not stop flowering on it. Sometimes the stepson is very fat and difficult to distinguish from the central trunk. In this case, the stepson and the main stem form a pronounced fork. To get the best harvest, all other stepchildren, except for the main one, must be removed without fail. This is how the tomato bush is formed into two stems.
There are many options for running a bush to get the best possible yield. The one I have described now is one of the best, and I have tried a lot. If you do not overdo it and do everything on time and correctly, then the number of tomatoes on the bush will certainly delight you.
