A new method by which to diagnose a heart attack happens successfully.
Doctors believe: heart pain may well be caused by a violation of the functionality of the smallest blood vessels of heart. This was confirmed by the results of scientific and practical research conducted by a team of scientists from the University of Glasgow in several British hospitals. Later published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and presented in a report at the conference on transcatheter cardiovascular therapy in San Diego, this information struck many.
It is known that the chest pain is one of the characteristic symptoms of angina pectoris - pathologic condition of the heart, which is caused by insufficient blood supply to this organ with oxygen. This is due to narrowing of the lumen of coronary arteries and leads to the formation of chronic heart failure in the patient, and subsequently to myocardial infarction.
Such pains are usually - the result or exercise, or stress. They can also arise from overeating or hypothermia. And patients suffering from them is prescribed most often coronary angiography - an invasive diagnostic blood condition. However, almost half of all cases, despite the complaints of patients, coronary angiography procedure does not reveal any serious problems with the major arteries. It turns out that such pain retrosternal space can also cause heart condition microcapillaries. And they are too subtle to be seen at least in the traditional survey.
Such conditions in medicine were called microvascular angina and vasospastic. And they often remain undetected just. That is the right treatment, patients simply do not get and the higher risk of a heart attack they retain.
British scientists from Glasgow just developed a new, unique in its kind method that makes it possible to reliably determine the state and functionality of heart microcapillaries. To achieve the result, right in the heart of the patient is introduced thinnest, highly flexible and sensitive wire. And with the help of cardiologists already determined: whether well constrict / dilate the smallest vessels of the heart?
The entire procedure takes less than 20 minutes. And it is much more efficient in terms of diagnosis than any previously existing methods.
A new way scientists tested on 151 patients complained of chest pain that accurate diagnosis was not put coronary angiography. About half the new method has revealed a problem with capillaries and allowed to find the cause of pain and prescribe adequate treatment.
