Almost every day, I advise women with hormonal imbalances. It can be
- early menopause symptoms,
- advanced forms of this syndrome,
- an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone in the reproductive age,
- symptoms of thyroid disease (which change the balance and sex hormones)
- the need for contraception,
- obesity (which violates the hard arranged Endocrinology welfare system and significantly affect the reproductive capabilities of women)
- and much more.
And usually, the main issue of concern to women when taking hormones - increased risk of cancer.
For some reason no one comes to mind that the majority of people, faced with cancer, had never taken hormones.
Alas, gormonofobiya in our country will break all records.
Besides cancer passions, patients are also concerned about the fear
- stout,
- covered with a layer of unwanted hair,
- "Planted" liver,
- that their cancer will cease to synthesize hormones and atrophy,
- and in general it is unnatural...
Unlike our country, where hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is used in 3.4% of women, and at least until 1991 than the 1%
(Smetnik VP, Kulakov VI, on Menopause Guide, 2001), in most countries of Western Europe it is used for a long time and successfully, on average, it covered from 20 to 55% of women, and in the US in different states from 28 to 71% of the female population used HRT.Unfortunately, not only the patient's wary of HRT, but also many doctors that particularly badly - obstetricians and endocrinologists.
I am confronted with the fact that doctors not only prescribe this therapy, but also to cancel the appointment of other doctors.
No appointments - no responsibility.
But prevention has long been losing relevance in our health care system, to my great regret. This can be explained, but it is difficult to accept.
When the doctor removes you from the obvious problem, kakogo- the disease has already appeared, it credibility in the eyes of the patient.
And if he delivered you from the fact that has not had time to develop, you do not feel the symptoms and problems of this disease, and the importance of the physician's contribution to your health in the minds of ordinary people, sharply decreases.
Prevention - is a quiet conscience of the doctor, even if he will never get any laurels, no recognition.
In the next article I will scatter the most popular myths associated with HRT.
