Women who smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day, the chances of getting pregnant with IVF (in vitro Fertilization) fall significantly, and in the case of pregnancy in these patients frequently watch multiple pregnancy.
Scientists believe the negative effects of smoking not only in the egg itself, but also on the wall of the uterus women. The study involved more than 700 patients from a clinic for infertility treatment (clinic "SANA-MED" Mr. Kharkiv). Women participants were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of "heavy smokers" - more than 10 cigarettes a day, the second was composed of non-smoking patients.
All study participants were nonsmokers husbands. Ova used for IVF, were taken from non donors. According to information received, much worse IVF has helped smokers - a successful outcome of the treatment amounted to 34.1%. In the second group, the success rate was 52.2%. Moreover, in the "smoking" group showed a higher number of complications during pregnancy. The study revealed that the toxic components of cigarette smoke disrupt the interaction of a fertilized egg to the uterus and prevent implantation of the embryo in the uterine wall.
