Let's talk about the elements that give the interior a cheap look - even if you had to spend a lot on them.

Any repair and redecorating a house takes a lot of time, or money, or both. It's a shame if, as a result of all the investments, the home looks cheap and unattractive. A cheap look says nothing about the price you had to pay for this or that thing, but creates a reputation for you as a mean and tasteless person.

Here are a few details with which your interior will look losing.

Artificial flowers

Even if they look "almost natural", they create the effect that everything in this house is fake and not real. Indoor plants are now more than affordable, they purify the air and bring an extra sense of life, positive energy into your home. If you even replaced plants with artificial dust collectors, then what else can guests expect from you and your interior?

It is unlikely that anyone will believe that the interior was created carefully, with love and from natural materials, if it is decorated with artificial flowers. If you don’t have money for a real palm tree, it’s better to just do without it and hang a few small plants on the wall, choosing a pot for them in the same style.

The abundance of curtains on the windows

If you hung not only tulle on the windows, but also a couple of rows of heavy curtains - congratulations, you have collected a lot of dust and negative impressions of the guests at home. If you are embarrassed by neighboring windows opposite or bright sunlight, close the windows with blackout blinds. Behind them you will hide no worse than behind several layers of curtains.

At the same time, roller blinds look modern, minimalistic, if necessary, they fold up and become almost invisible. And then you will have enough light tulle to make the interior cozy. But in no case do not hang plastic blinds - this is long outdated and will make the room look like an office 20 years ago.

Wall tiles with pictures

Perhaps at one time it seemed to you that laying out a kitchen apron (a place on the wall above the working area) with tiles with the image of fruit baskets, cups of coffee, teapots, inscriptions "coffee", "tea" - cute and appropriate, but no. Such sophistication on the walls makes your kitchen very cheap. The same can be said about bathroom tiles depicting the sea, flowers, islands, people, ships, etc.

At the same time, abstractions and ornaments on wall tiles look appropriate and attractive.

Wall mural

You can often see the use of photo wallpaper even in design repairs on the pages of specialized magazines. But if your interior was not furnished by a professional designer, then there is a 99.9% chance that the photo wallpaper will look cheap and out of place, will not be combined with the furniture and the general style of the room.

If in the background of your bed - New York at night or a rainy London street with a red telephone box - what should this composition say? What do you like to sleep on the street? By itself, the picture on the wallpaper can be very beautiful. But it is far from being given to everyone to use it competently and appropriately. And in a small room, photo wallpapers only create visual noise.

Curved chipboard furniture

Chipboard furniture has only one advantage over the rest - the price. This is really cheap furniture. But even in this category, you can choose an option that will look more profitable and more expensive than the rest.

Firstly, there should not be any curved lines with a claim to a special style. The simpler and more rectangular, the better.

Secondly, color. Definitely dark furniture will look more profitable than light, but if there are no light inserts in it, then the look will turn out to be gloomy. When choosing light-colored chipboard, give preference to shades that are used by manufacturers of more expensive furniture: muted, not too light and bright, reminiscent of real wood.

"Gold" elements

Whether it's handles on furniture or any metal parts that the manufacturer for some reason decided to "gild" - they will look as cheap as possible. If the item is not made of gold, then it should not have the color of gold, then it will look stylish.

Plaster molding on the ceiling

The desire to add stucco molding to the interior, as well as golden elements, is understandable - many people want to live "in a palace" so that everything around is "rich". But what is appropriate in the huge rooms of the palaces is not suitable for city apartments. If here you have stucco molding, and a meter further - socks on the battery, then the combination is not at all royal.

After all, every visitor to your home will understand that all this stucco is just an imitation and a fake bought in a hardware store. The main thing is that you yourself will know this very well, then why complicate the look of your ceiling?

Drywall constructions

If the design does not carry any functionality, if it is a design for the sake of the design, then it is superfluous in the interior. Not only does it take up a significant part of the space, it also collects a lot of dust on itself. The same with multi-level plasterboard ceilings - they only make the ceiling lower, and the aesthetic side of this design makes it clear that your views on the interior are outdated.

All these shelving and drywall niches make the interior very cheap and at the same time completely non-functional. Rid your space of these clutter. You don’t know how to decorate the wall - don’t decorate with anything at all, but don’t take the footage of the room with drywall.
