Unpleasant, painful, harmful: The doctor revealed the ugly truth about the operation for weight loss

Let's talk about bariatric surgery - reduction of the volume of the stomach.

A lot of fat people dream of this operation. It seems to them that rraz - and you are thin, since it is impossible to eat a lot, the stomach is tiny, and nothing can fit in it except a couple of spoons of liquid food.

What's Wrong With Stomach Reduction Surgery

But the tragedy is that appetite is nowhere to be found. A person wants not just to eat, but to throw it into his mouth with both hands.

Many people say that the process of eating turns into a vicious circle of overeating - vomiting. It is unpleasant, painful, and very harmful. And a considerable time passes until a person learns to eat just enough to accept his reduced stomach.

In fact, exactly what should happen in the process of a conventional, non-surgical, cure for obesity is happening: a person learns to eat little. And bariatrics only helps, and in a very uncomfortable way. And, alas, it is not a guarantee of getting rid of excess weight at all. Because in the learning process

the stomach can stretch again - almost to the previous size. And those extra pounds will come back.

When Can I Have Gastric Reduction Surgery?

Like any surgical intervention, a reduction in the volume of the stomach has clear indications: stage 3 obesity or 2nd, but with serious diseases, the severity of which will decrease with weight loss. They do not make them for people with oncology, gastrointestinal diseases, mental illness, with a history of alcoholism and drug addiction.

Sometimes this operation is indispensable, but I almost always try to dissuade and cure with conservative means. For example, my favorite patient, who lost 100 kg in a year and a half, also came to me on the way to bariatrics. And we managed to achieve excellent results without a single incision.

What are stomach reduction surgeries?

Operations are different:

1. Restrictive-gastro-restrictive - aimed at reducing the volume of the stomach and limiting the amount of incoming food. For example, with the installation of an intragastric balloon or a bandage (ring). There is a resection of the stomach - when it is literally divided longitudinally into two parts and the outer part is removed, and the remaining part is sutured, greatly reducing the volume.

Let me remind you that in our body there are no extra parts, in the stomach there are cells that carry out the synthesis of important substances for our immunity and even mental state.

2. Bypass surgery - when part of the intestine is excluded from the digestion process, which prevents the digestion and absorption of food. That is, they put a shunt that conducts food directly to some part of the digestive tract.

3. And combined operations, which combine the 1st and 2nd type of operations.

I keep insisting that the only way to get rid of excess weight is a lifestyle change. You need to behave like a slender healthy person, and then you will definitely become like that. And I will help you with this.
