Doctor Komarovsky spoke about whether a plague epidemic could occur in Ukraine because of the war
The world is testing us. Coronavirus, then war, monkeypox. And now they are talking about the possibility of an outbreak of plague in Ukraine because of the war. As Yevgeny Komarovsky said in the program "Wound from Ukraine", in just a few days he received a lot of questions about this. The expert told whether to be afraid of the old-new scourge.
According to him, the basis of the rumors about the spread of the plague is as follows. People are afraid that an enemy shell will hit the burial places of plague victims in Odessa. Then, supposedly, this biological threat may arise.
But, as Dr. Komarovsky assures, the last time the plague in Odessa was in 1902. That is, the bacterium has been in the soil for more than 120 years, and it died. But do not write off another way to spread the plague wand.
The pediatrician of the highest category added that the mechanism for the spread of this disease is quite simple. For example, a flea bites an infected mouse, then the insect jumps onto a person and bites him. He falls ill and becomes a carrier of the plague for all other people.
But Yevgeny Komarovsky reassures: in the 21st century, the plague is treated quite easily with the help of antibiotics.
In addition, according to the expert, even where there are foci of plague, for example, in the Congo, the mortality rate does not exceed 10%.
