Revealed a mechanism that reduces the number of receptors for SARS-CoV-2
If you're waiting for a sign from heaven to start exercising, here it is:
scientists have confirmed that sport reduces the risk of contracting the coronavirus.
Why those who play sports are less likely to get coronavirus
For this work scientists from the University Hospital of Navarra received an award at the last congress of the Spanish Obesity Research Society (SEEDO).
They found that this positive effect is due to hormones that are produced by muscles during exercise. These hormones are called myokines.
Myokines (particularly FNDC4 and FNDC5) have been shown to able to reduce the number of receptors for SARS-CoV-2 in adipose tissue cells (adipocytes).
That is, the virus loses its "landing sites", it has nothing to cling to.
Alas, scientists have once again confirmed that obese people are a more convenient target for SARS-CoV-2 than slender counterparts. The more adipose tissue, the more receptors for the virus.
And, unfortunately, myokine synthesis is impaired in obese patients, muscle hormones are not produced as actively as in healthy people.
What to do?
Start moving. There will be increased production of myokines and fat burning.
I believe that brisk walking is ideal for all people, to a light sweat and a blush on the cheeks.
Well, let's start walking a lot, shall we?
Important: If you get sick, then you need to lie down and recover. No physical activity. Easy walks are possible only after the end of the illness. And in the gym - only a couple of weeks!
