When to expect the strongest magnetic storm of the month? What to do and what not to do these days: advice from a medical expert. February 2022 magnetic storm calendar.

The Earth is entering a phase of powerful magnetic storms. There will be several in February, and one has already started today. Weather-sensitive people may experience nausea, headache, weakness, and brain fog early in the morning. But these are flowers: a stronger magnetic storm awaits us on February 13 and 14, and can spoil many St. Valentine's Day. How to prepare for this phenomenon and alleviate your condition? The head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Paramedics gave his advice Yaroslav Vus on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels.

Magnetic storms (also called geomagnetic storms) are fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field in response to solar activity and solar flares. Such fluctuations can be insignificant and last a couple of hours (this phenomenon is called an excited magnetosphere), or they can be very significant and last for several days. In February, we will have several one-day magnetic storms and one two-day one. According to the Laboratory of Solar X-Ray Astronomy of the Lebedev Physical Institute, the two-day storm will pass on February 13-14: scientists have assigned it a G1 level.

How does a magnetic storm affect a person

Magnetic storms cause headache and disorientation

Many skeptics deny the impact of magnetic storms on humans, but scientists have proven that it exists. So, during magnetic storms, blood viscosity increases: it is more difficult for it to pass through the vessels, which automatically increases blood pressure. According to the observations of doctors, because of this, during the period of magnetic storms, the number of hypertensive crises, heart attacks and strokes increases by 70%. Even if a person has no complaints about pressure, during these periods he may feel sudden headaches and pressure in the temples. There are also those who react to a magnetic storm "on the contrary" - not by increasing, but by lowering pressure (hypotension).

The Earth's magnetic field greatly affects the human brain. Any fluctuation of the magnetic background "beats" the central nervous system. Depending on the strength of the vibration, a person may feel lethargic or vice versa, overly irritable. Many suffer from insomnia, some suffer from depression due to magnetic storms and panic attacks. Among other things, during periods of magnetic storms, the hormonal background changes in people: the body begins to produce more cortisol (stress hormone), because of which the central nervous system is in constant tension.

How to help the body in a magnetic storm

During magnetic storms it is better to give up alcohol

The reaction of the organism to a magnetic storm will be individual for each person. Therefore, it is worth preparing for this phenomenon, taking into account the characteristics of health. “People who suffer from hypertension should take all their medications as usual during magnetic storms and make no exceptions,” says Yaroslav Vus. - If you are prone to hypertensive crises, you need to put medicines for emergency pressure reduction in your bag. There are people whose pressure, on the contrary, decreases, and they will feel weak and lethargic. In this case, it makes sense to stock up on a bar of chocolate to pick it up.”

In any case, it is important to have a pressure control device with you so that you can measure it, and only then take action, the expert warns.

To mitigate the impact of magnetic storms on the body, everyone, without exception, should reconsider their diet, and at least temporarily give up fatty, salty and spicy foods.

“It is advisable not to drink alcohol, exclude coffee, energy drinks and sugary drinks from the diet. Avoid stress: read or watch the news less,
- advises the expert.

Your task for the next few days is to surround yourself with a consistent "bubble" of calm.

Avoid increased physical activity, but at the same time, do not take the seal position on the couch. If a person lies a lot and moves little, the body perceives such a condition as an illness, and begins to increase the production of cortisol. Moderate activity “works” best of all during magnetic storms: calm walks in the fresh air in the park arm in arm with your loved one will come in handy.
