Maud Julienne became her father's guinea pig. He forbade her to laugh and talk, closed her in the basement with rats and gave her alcohol to drink. So he wanted to make a superman out of his daughter

Many parents, on a subconscious level, want their child to make their unfulfilled dreams come true. We send children to dance and music, take them to French and Soroban - often because we ourselves dreamed of achieving success in this area. Fortunately, children grow up, and we recognize their right to shape their own destiny. This happens in normal families, but not in the Maud Julien family. Her father was obsessed with the idea of creating an ideal person: from birth he subjected his daughter to cruel trials, tempering her body and spirit. He sculpted an 18-year-old "demigod" out of the child. The girl miraculously managed to maintain mental and physical health

Too old for a goddess

The wealthy French entrepreneur Louis Didier was convinced that with the right upbringing, a real superman could be created. According to the Frenchman, such a person should have been something akin to God: impassive and fearless, insensitive to the pain and suffering of the body, emotionless, physically strong and spiritually hardened. Louis was looking for a child on whom he could test his educational theory. So he found Jacqueline.

Jacqueline was the daughter of poor miners: when Louis saw her, the girl was six years old. He made a deal with his family - he bought the girl, promising to give her an education and ensure a comfortable life. With one condition: the parents forever lost the right to see their daughter. Due to severe need and lack of money, they agreed.

Louis took Jacqueline with him and kept his promise. He sent the girl to a boarding school, and then to the university. At the same time, he tried to apply his educational theory to her, but came to the conclusion that she was too "old" to be re-educated. For the purity of the experiment, a baby was needed - an ideal mass from which one could "blind" anything. Therefore, Didier decided to make Jacqueline the mother of the future superman.

No toys, no emotion, no comfort

When Jacqueline was 18 years old, Louis Didier officially married her. In 1957, a daughter was born in marriage, who was named Maud. Immediately after the birth of the child, the father ended his business, sold all his assets and bought a small house in a remote village in the north of France. It was there that he began to build a kind of concentration camp for Maud - a place where all human needs, emotions and feelings were consistently squeezed out of the girl.

From an early age, Maud slept separately from her parents on a hard mattress in the farthest room of the house. It was the only room where there was no heating, and even in hot weather it was chilly cold. The father forbade the baby to show any emotions: for crying, as well as for laughing, the girl was severely punished and left alone. Once Maud learned to speak, she was forbidden to waste time talking. Louis believed that they distract the child from physical and spiritual development.

There could be no question of any comfort and pleasure in a child's life. Maud never held a single toy in her hands, washed herself with ice water, took a cold shower once a week and went to the toilet with only one piece of toilet paper. The father was sure that only in such conditions it is possible to make the body hardy and hardened. Any food with at least some taste was also banned: for many years, the girl was fed unleavened boiled rice and raw vegetables.

Maud did not communicate with other children, her only friends were ponies and a little Pekingese. Such luxury was allowed only because Louis believed contact with animals beneficial for the development of intelligence. But even with animals, she could spend very little time, and these rare moments of pleasure were completely taken away from the girl when she was five years old.

Test of fear, pain and alcohol

After the fifth birthday, new times have come for Maud. The father decided that it was time to study, and the baby's life was scheduled literally by the minute. She practiced fencing, horse riding, swimming, gymnastics, and cycling for several hours a day. A separate point of Didier was music - he was sure that a superman should be able to play all musical instruments in the world. To do all these activities every day, Maud was taught to sleep less and less. Louis said that sleep is a waste of time.

In her free time, the girl was tested for impassivity. Her father sat her down on a hard chair and forced her to sit motionless for three to four hours. During this time, the child could not only lean on the back of the chair, but even wince from the pain in the stiff muscles. As soon as Louis noticed the slightest movement, he would start timing again.

From the age of seven, parents began to teach their daughter to get rid of fears. Didier saw that Maud was afraid of rats. Once he raised the baby in the middle of the night and without a word led him into a dark basement. He put the girl on a chair in the center of the basement and ordered her to sit still. Then he left, closing the door behind him. Maud sat in the dark and felt the rats running under her feet, but due to fear of her father she could not make a sound. Subsequently, such "sessions" of getting rid of fear became more and more difficult: bells were put on the girl to hear if she suddenly moved.

At the age of nine, Maud was first introduced to alcohol - not to give a child a drink, but to develop an insensitivity to alcoholic beverages. Every day, along with the traditional portion of rice, the girl was poured a little whiskey or half a glass of wine. Subsequently, this resulted for Mod in a terrible intoxication of the whole body and serious problems with liver, but at that time Didier was confident in his method: he believed that in this way he would save his daughter from alcoholism.

Escape and welcome release

Maud lived in this mode for 16 long years. She did not communicate with other people, the father and mother were involved in raising and educating her daughter. Louis ruled everything, and Jacqueline did not even think at least once to stand up for her daughter: she was completely suppressed by her husband's authority and was afraid of him like fire. Surprisingly, the girl in such conditions did not lose her mind, but was able to adapt. She learned to move around so that the bells tied to her did not ring, stole food and toilet paper, ran away from home at night and secretly walked the streets of the city.

Music helped to free Maud from captivity. In 1957, Didier fell ill and could no longer fully engage with his daughter. He found a teacher for her, whom he strictly forbade to communicate with the child on any topics other than study. But the girl herself told the teacher about what her father and mother were doing to her.

The teacher turned out to be a wise man, and convinced Didier that it would be better for the girl to take music lessons at his home, because there are much more professional instruments there. This was the first time Maud was able to move around the city legally and without fear of being caught. A little later, the same teacher invited her to earn some money in a music shop. It was there that Maud met Richard Julien, fell in love with him and fled to him from her father when she was 18 years old.

The father was furious, he vomited and threw, demanding from Richard to return his daughter to him. But the young people were officially married, and after that Didier lost all rights to his "superman". It is worth giving Maud her due - she did not abandon her parents, and until their death every week she regularly came to visit them.

It was very difficult for Maud to establish a normal life after so many years of imprisonment. She learned from scratch to communicate with people, go shopping, cook and eat the usual food for everyone else. Due to the meager diet, she had problems with her teeth and gums, and alcohol hit her liver very hard - the girl was on the verge of cirrhosis. She had to undergo a course of psychological rehabilitation, after which she herself decided to study to be a psychologist, and now she helps people in crisis situations. Now Maud is 65 years old, she has a husband and two beautiful children, but she still has nightmares in which her father comes after her.

About all the horrors of her life, Maud wrote the book "The Daughter's Story. For 18 years I was a prisoner of my father. " This book shocks how cruel the closest person can be, guided by some kind of super-idea.
