What to limit in the diet with Gilbert's syndrome. Nothing. The opposite is true

There was a proposal for Gilbert's syndrome not to overeat, eat a little and limit fatty foods. I cannot agree with any point.

Explain

Gilbert's syndrome is a congenital feature of enzymes in the liver when the enzymes fail to excrete bilirubin.

Bilirubin is produced by the normal, routine breakdown of blood. It is not a very harmless substance. We can say that it is a toxin. If the liver does not excrete it with bile, then it will poison the body. This is not as scary as it might seem. In the worst case, it simply ends with jaundice, that is, staining the skin yellow. If the bilirubin goes down completely, then there may be lethargy, nausea, or abdominal pain.

Gilbert's syndrome can be found in 5% of people. It doesn't really affect anything. They live in peace.

But our people cannot live peacefully with a congenital liver feature. For some reason they begin to help this liver. For some reason, it seems to many that for this it is necessary not to eat, and especially not to eat fat. And this is where our people are greatly mistaken.

The fact is that in people with Gilbert's syndrome, bilirubin in the blood jumps 2-3 times just during fasting. If you limit the daily calorie content to 400 kilocalories, then such people turn yellow.

The funny thing is that even if you maintain a normal calorie content, but at the same time sharply limit fatty foods, then people turn yellow again.

It turns out that you can't starve and you can't refuse fatty foods either. Sad, isn't it? I really wanted to refuse!

They say that there are several explanations for this terrible fact. Fat cells may lose weight and shrink from starvation, and fat-soluble bilirubin is poured out of them directly into the blood.

Fasting may deplete stocks of special chemicals that normally excrete bilirubin in the bile.

Maybe the intestines are odd from starvation and greedily suck back bilirubin secreted with bile. That is, instead of being secreted with poop, bilirubin is absorbed back into the bloodstream.

Briefly speaking

With Gilbert's syndrome, it is useful to eat a lot of different things, including vegetables and fruits, so that the liver does not deny itself anything and always remains in a good mood. Limiting something can be harmful.
